Just wondering what the crack is with raspberry leaf tea and bringing on pregnancy? Currently 34 weeks and fed up as hell so all the old wives tales to bring on labour will be starting as soon as I finish work for mat leave (only 3 more weeks - i can do this)
And is there any reason why I shouldn't drink it hmm
Thank you x

I wouldn't try anything before 40 weeks. That being said most of the old wives tales don't work. I tried the raspberry tea. Nothing.

My baby was 10 days late. I tried walking, birthing ball bouncing, raspberry leaf tea and then had a failed sweep! I'd say the only thing that may have worked is spicy food. Though my main advice is that nothing makes the baby budge and to take the due date with a pinch of salt!

@FirstMumToBe I did raspberry leaf tea from 34 weeks, and the perineum massage every day/other day, after a bath and my last was a week early.

Doing the same again in the hop I will repeat the success of not only being a week early but having no tearing during labour.

Neither can do any harm and drinking copious herbal tea is good for hydration anyway so i'd say go for it

Drank it like my life depended on it: both babies early, one by 2 weeks! I don't think there's any correlation tbh.

(Unfortunately I tore - 3rd degree - though, 6lb DS turned at the last minute)

It doesn't bring on labour. It's meant to tone/strengthen the uterus for a shortened pushing stage

None of the old wives tales work but raspberry leaf tea is taken as a uterine topic and meant to make the 2nd/pushing stage more effective. Nothing to do with the onset of labour.

Ah right, thanks for clarifying! I’ve just read a couple of different things! I’ll pick some up if it strengthens my muscles, can’t do any harm!

Take from 32 weeks, supposed to soften your cervix and make the second part of labour better, ease tearing etc. Defo worth a try xxx
