Halo Just looking for some moral support I think...sickness has totally knocked me. I can't tell if I am just being a wimp but I feel a bit of a failure.
Been sick for three weeks now. Probably sick 3 - 5 times a day. I don't so much mine the being sick but the constant nausea is just getting me down. Had some sick leave then took some annual leave but now dreading going back to work this week. I can't concentrate and my job involves a lot of smells :(
How are others coping with work?

Hello buzzy sorry you are going through this, it is horrible and the nausea is relentless. You are certainly not a wimp or a failure - ask yourself if you would be expected, or would expect yourself, to just keep going as normal if you felt like this for any other reason than pregnancy, I can bet that you wouldn't. Though some nausea and sickness can be expected in pregnancy and is normal, if it starts to become debilitating and effect your everyday life then it's not something you should just have to put up with. You may well also be dehydrated so it's worth keeping a close eye on your fluid intake and trying sugary drinks or ice lollies if you haven't already. Have you been to your GP? There are various anti sickness meds that are safe to take in pregnancy- the charity pregnancy sickness support is amazing and has more advice on the treatments available. Thr GP should also sign you off work if that will help, as you should't have to use your annual leave for being sick and your rights are protected for pregnancy related illness. There is also a hyperemesis support thread on here with ladies with various levels of nausea and vomiting and it's a very good place to get some advice and support as I know how isolating and lonely it can be to feel like this. You honestly will survive it and have done really well to het through three weeks of it already Flowers

You have my sympathy. I've just (hopefully) got over the constant nausea and it's absolutely awful!

How many weeks are you? Mine started to feel better at 15w. Just suddenly one day it wasn't as bad and each day got slightly better. It's not 100% gone now but it was so so so much better than before.

If you don't feel up for work then tell them. If you work with smells is there another job they can give you to make it easier for you?

Look after yourself and the baby, it won't last forever

Oh, to answer your question about work I had a lot of time off and my work have been understanding. Luckily I was at my worst over Christmas and had some time booked off already. I think as I did come in as much as I could my work wasn't too worried when I took time off when it got really bad

My sympathy too Thanks

Mine stopped about 16 weeks but keeps catching me out when i feel cocky about it going. Threw up spectacularly this morning at 19 + 5. Ive just had a weeks annual leave and im supposed to be starting my new light duties job today (my normal job is safety critical) so have had to book off. Its usually only for a day and doesn't impact my sick record so im glad because ive had various days off throughout the last few months.
How far along are you?

I'm 22 weeks and just threw up in the sink. Pregnancy is a bitch.
