For those who have an anterior placenta

Had my anomaly scan on Monday and they told me my placenta is anterior which isn't an issue, can just cause movements to be felt less or later on. When did you start to feel movements? I'm 20+2 and still haven't felt a peep :( I'd love to have some reassurance!

Thank you

Didn't feel anything until 27 weeks.....then it was like having a grasshopper in my tummy. Never had any little flutters, just big kicks suddenly.

I also found out at my anomoly scan. I'm 24 weeks now and feel a lot of movement even at the front. I was worried earlier on because I wasn't sure if it was movement or not but she's definitely making herself noticed now Smile

I had an anterior placenta and felt movements at 19 weeks but I didn’t have the flutters people talk about; mine were quite solid rolls when they started so maybe I couldn’t feel the flutters. I’ve only had one baby so I don’t know how it’d feel in a different position but as the pregnancy went on past 25 weeks I had no issue monitoring movements.
Lots of people don’t feel movements for a bit longer no matter where their placenta so try not to worry.

Didn't feel anything until around 22 weeks. This is my second baby but first anterior placenta. My first was a posterior placenta and I could feel her from 16-18 weeks if I remember correctly.

I was 24 weeks when I felt first kicks but like someone else has said I didn't get any of the flutterings people talk about either, not sure if that was due to the anterior placenta or not! Don't worry OP, 19 weeks is early even if you don't have an anterior placenta! 😊

Maybe 21-22 weeks with DD1, much less with DD2.

I felt very very slight movements about 18 weeks but even now I wonder if it was just gas! I started to really feel movements about 23 weeks x

Ah that's so reassuring to hear, and the fact some of you feel pretty strong movements straight away. Hopefully I'll feel her anytime between now and week 24 - Just hope its sooner rather than later!

Thank you! Smile

I had an anterior placenta with my first and clearly felt them from 13 weeks, but it was low lying, so I suspect that helped and I was feeling them at the top of my uterus. I also just notice early movements. Got them at 11 weeks with my 2nd (posterior placenta). There's a huge range of what's normal and a lot of it really has to do with knowing what you're feeling for (it doesn't feel like kicks or movement at all to start) and how much time you spend sitting and being quiet each day. I work in front of a computer alone at home, so I think that made it easier. I wouldn't notice them when I was moving around and I'd barely notice them when I was in the office where it was loud and busy.
