Booking in appointment- self register?

Do you need to go to the dr or can you just book it yourself? I'm expecting dc3 and would much rather skip the dr part. Our Drs are always running an hour late and I wondered if you can just do it yourself!

TIA 😊

In my area you register with the midwives online and then they contact you to sort out appts, no contact with GP at all.

I think it depends on your area. It seems that for a lot of areas you can self refer to midwife. Google your hospital/trust and see what it says on their website or ring your GP and ask the receptionist what the process is

I'd love to do it online! It's been 9 years since I was last pg!

This is my first so was unsure of process myself. I checked trust website and it had a form that I could fill in and email, but to be sure I also rang GP and they told me to do self referral as well

I just rang my GP, spoke to a receptionist and told her I was pregnant, what do I do? and she wrote my name, DOB and last period in a book and passed it on to the midwife.

It depends on your area. Because I prefer to go to an out of Borough hospital I needed a GP referral to ensure that they acted me. The online self referral service here doesn't let you explain why you are high risk which is my reason for wanting the out of Borough hospital.

Depends on the area. In my trust you phone the maternity booking line and they arrange an appointment for you. And you pick up a set of notes from your GP reception (which also has the booking line number on).
