Going to the toilet feels worse than giving birth

And I gave birth with a back to back labour, no pain killers Sad

Literally, I can't 'pass a stool' without this horrific burning and stinging.

It's worse than pushing a baby out. I had a 3rd degree tear but this starting happening 3/4 weeks after birth. Doing my first stool after birth and the few weeks after was a walk in the park, came very easily and pain free.

I'm 8 weeks post birth, due my 6/8 week check on Friday.

Honestly, it's horrible.

When I do go, there's a lot of fresh blood.

Not sure what it is. I've had 'piles' before but they've never caused me any pain whatsoever, just the odd bit of bleeding.

It feels like there's a rip or something.

What could this be? Sorry, I know MN isn't a GP but I'm seeing one Friday and I'm interested to see what people think. I did originally think it was stitches related but those all healed fine and had no problems for a good few weeks, regarding the stinging on my 'bottom'

Could it be an anal fissure? They are meant to be incredibly painful.

Neola That's what I was thinking... purely because I've had piles before some are still there from a couple of years ago and they've never caused me any issues?

Yep sounds like a tear/fissure. I got the same 4 weeks after birth both times, how unfair! I do believe it's down to me not being dehydrated between illness and Breastfeeding, leading to constipation, and then a tear, and then it can't heal because I remain dehydrated. Last week I upped my water intake significantly and ate more fruit and less processed sugar and it finally recovered after being painful and bleeding intermittently for 4 weeks. Anusol cream or similar can help too.

I have had an anal fissure and they are horrific as nothing you do can help it and only ibuprofen can take the pain away (it's a muscle tear).

You need a stool softner such as Laxido which you can get over the counter at chemist or on the prescription. It will liquify the stool but it is not a laxative.

The pain is horrid, no matter what you do it doesn't get better and you feel like a stuck pig with the bleeding but it will get better. I recommend Ibuprofen and lysine- aka feminax but unbranded available in asda etc as migraine relief

Hope that helps.

Yep I've also had a fissure (not related to birth though).
Oh my god the pain! Like passing glass.
Definitely get a stool softener, drink lots of water and speak to your GP.

Piles. I remember that pain. It was horrific. Mine came when the inlaws were visiting. I remember having to hold in the tears on the one toilet we had, in the not very soundproof bathroom.
However, it was turned around quickly by Anusol!! I’m buying in, in prep for the next one. They were prescribed by my GP but you can get them on Amazon. I had the tablet like things that you pop up your bottom. Feels weird, but they work. Everything continued to flow, but with ease and far less painful as they gave everything time to heal. It will get better though.

I always got fissures a few weeks after giving birth, feels like pooing a needle. Cream from GP works fast, go now!

Sounds like a fissure. Go to your GP, they can prescribe GTN cream or diltiazem cream to help it heal. You also need to take stool softeners such as laxido.

It could still be to do with your third degree tear. It takes a long time for it to heal even though the stitches have gone. I had trauma clinic after mine and mentioned I kept getting funny electric shocks etc and she told me takes a while as the nerves was damaged they need to all re connect and sometimes get misconnected which is what causes the pain. I feel for you I remember it taking a while to fully recover from mine. I only have to look at my preschooler and I wince Confused

Think I might have this. It's awful!! Dread going for a poo at the min!! Trying my best to keep fluids and fruit intake up. Seems to be helping.
