Positive test please advise!

Hi everyone

I stopped my pill on 16th November. 34 days later started my period. Based on that cycle I should have my period next Wednesday (6 days from now), but obviously not sure how accurate my length of cycle is as it’s only based on one month.

Took a test today and it says 1-2 weeks pregnant! Should I definitely book a gp appointment and assume it is correct?

You probably don't need to go to the GP just yet. Most people wait until around 6 or 7 weeks. Take another test if you want to be sure, but false positives are rare

We just self refer now! Online to midwife got appointment today for booking in appointment for 14th February they'll book my scan then xx

Hey thanks! But doesn’t go do a blood test to confirm? Afraid of false positive so don’t want to get my hopes up and assume? Thanks

Just phone surgery; they will advise. Some refer you to mw based on your call, some require appointment, some just tell you to call me yourself.

No no no.

GPs get pissed off with this. Wasting appointments for confirmation you are pregnant when you have a positive test. The GP will just tell you they do the same urine tests you do at home and no they won't do a blood test.

They gets loads of appointments like that on the series and they refuse to do a retest as the urine dipstick tests are the same as you do at home.

I’d call your GP reception and ask them the next steps. Some get you in to see the GP early (although they won’t do a blood test as home pregnancy tests are very accurate these days) and some just refer to a midwife - first appointment is usually at 8-10 weeks.

When I got a positive test I called the surgery to check what I should do. Here they just book you straight in to see the midwife at 8-10 weeks.

Hi! I found out when clear blue also stated 1-2, I called my local midwife centre in the health centre and she asked what I believed my estimated date was and booked me an appointment to see my midwife for 8 weeks.

I was surprised that all she did was fill in all my details and order my NHS maternity exemption card etc, there were no blood tests or extra tests or even any proof for them that I was actually pregnant! Your word alone is enough for them until you get your dating scan.

Although I had an early private scan at 8+6 as I'm such a worrier, wasn't much to see although could see the tiny buds of arms and legs which was quite surprising having only being so early and heard and saw a clear heartbeat so for reassurance I'd most definitely recommend! X
