Baby thinks my sciatic nerve is a comfy place to sit :(

Currently 17 weeks with DC5 and even though I can still wear my normal jeans baby is making my right hip/leg really uncomfortable by sitting in the wrong place. I'm sure standing all day (work in a kitchen) doesn't help but some days I'm fine and other days I'm really uncomfortable so can only assume baby is shifting their weight.
Does anyone have any tips to get them to sit somewhere else?
Often in the evening when DC are in bed I try to do yoga child or swan type pose on the floor while MNing on laptop instead of sitting on the settee, hanging by my ankles sounds very tempting but not so practical. Suggestions/experiences welcomed. Thank you

I had sciatica with DC3 from about 18 weeks and it was a killer. Weeks 20- 24 I could barely walk, I went to a physio who gave me exercises which just made me worse. I was in tears most days.

In the end, in desperation, I went to see an osteopath. He said it wasn't the really the baby on the nerve but just the way my spine was bending from the pregnancy and also the fact that I was carrying around DC2 who was 13 months at the time and nowhere near walking. He said any bending forward such as hoovering or putting DC in or out of the cot would also aggravate it.

He cracked my spine which I was a bit Hmm about beforehand but it actually didn't hurt. I felt better leaving the appointment and the next day I was about 90% better. I don't know whether I was just lucky or whether osteopaths in general are good with sciatica but that's what worked for me. Hope you can get rid of it, it's horrible Flowers

I've been struggling with this since 8 weeks.. I'm now 15 weeks pregnant. When it first happened both midwife and doctor told me it was normal and would get worse... I know I'm gonna struggle as it's getting harder every week, how do I get help? Do I just need to speak to the midwife again at the 16 week appointment and hope she'll help?

I had this as my piriformis muscle was in spasm and my sacrum was all tilted.
Osteopath helped me too despite my misgivings

Go see an osteopath. I have issues with my pelvis and hips normally (nothing to do with pregnancy really) and regular adjustments by a cranial osteopath have pretty much fixed it. I'm 31 weeks now and I feel better almost than I do when I'm not pregnant.

Sharl don't wait for your midwife to do anything. I was told in my last pregnancy when I had SPD/PGP from about 18 weeks that it was part of pregnancy, yet the chiropractor kept me able to do the school run all the way through, and more comfortable than I had been when I asked the midwife about it.
I saw the osteopath this morning and she was lovely, apparently I have a very flexible spine apart from where it meets my pelvis when it is pretty inflexible! Going back next week to see if I've stayed adjusted or need a bigger hammer!
