Just wondered if anyone had received a free Baby Box? Just signed up & done the quiz thing, hoping to collect it next week - just wondered what people thought of them? I love the idea of them & what they represent, and who doesn't love a freebie 😃

I did it and waiting but apparently they literally send you a box 😂 waiting to see what actually arrives!

I’ve heard it is literally just the box... not like in Scotland sadly!

I have to go collect mine so don't even get the joy of something in the post! Mean 😂

I got the box, mattress and sheet and a muslin. Oh and I think a packet of nappies. I’m in England. Not as well stocked as in Scotland but still not bad.

@SilverLinings2014 that sounds better! I did the Amazon box too and that was pretty pants compared to the American one....

CL what's the Amazon box???

I'm not overly fussed, I guess anything is better than nothing 😂 I just want the box so I don't have to buy a moses basket 😏

I don't understand as never heard of this? Is it free? What is it? What do you get?

mustbemad17 · 23/11/2017 17:46

It's mimicking the Finnish idea of every child having a safe place to sleep. So you get a box with a mattress & a sheet (Finland have theirs crammed full of stuff!). If you google baby box university you'll find it 🙂

It was a bit patronising but I still got some info from it...

"University"?!

Sounds a bit twee and patronising.

Not sure I can be arsed to collect mine after reading this. I answered the questions online and when I asked at our local “collection point” or whatever they called it- which happened to be our local hospital, which I happened to be at the next day- they said I had to attend a session (or something?) to collect it?? Is that right? It’s a nightmare to park at our hospital so not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle just for a box.

I got mine last week and didn't have to collect it, it was delivered to me.

Report
mustbemad17 · 23/11/2017 20:47

Magic haven't had anything about a session here, just have to show my certificate (yay) to collect.

Expecting my mate got hers delivered too. God knows why they won't deliver mine...maybe i'm an alien

I did the test and they said they will send the box in post- it took around 5-6 weeks.

clarebear1983 · 23/11/2017 22:11

Mine was posted, they said they aren't collected anymore but that might have just been my area.

I got a box, mattress, sheet, nappies, bib, socks/gloves, hat and a few other bits that I can't remember without having to get off my fat pregnant ass and go look!

ijustwannadance · 23/11/2017 22:16

I have seen one but I really don't see the point for people who already have a cot/moses basket or pram carrycot.

It's just a cardboard box with a thin mattress.

Just remember, nothing is truly free. By signing up to Baby Box and also to Bounty and Emma's Diary these companies obtain access to your personal data.

Be prepared for a deluge of junk mail and cold calls.

@mustbemad17 @CL1982 I've just done the quiz and paid the $7.95 for it to be shipped to me. In the order form there was a tiny thumbnail picture of the box with stuff in it, so i'm hoping for a few more goodies :)

I got mine last week. It's literally a box with a mattress, a sheet and a blanket.

thaigreencurry82 · 25/11/2017 16:55

@jellypi3 that is rather disappointing! But still a place for baby to nap in when downstairs for six quid aint bad.

I have to pick mine up, from my hospital I think as it didn't show any nearby locations (my hospital is about half an hours drive away).

I won't be going out my way to get it.
