When to call...?

So I was due with no 3 yesterday but child 1 was a week late and child 2 had to be induced after 2 weeks so i wasn't expecting any action any time soon. Today I'm getting cramping contractiony discomfort, since mid morning. My mum will come to look after my other kids, but she's an hour away. Do i call to give her the heads up, or given that she's a bit of a panicker and I don't want to worry her for nothing, do I wait for waters to go. In a quandary in case it all dies off and comes to nothing. Any thoughts?!

When did your waters go with your others?

Child 1 - waters going was the first sign and out of the blue, she was born 24 hours later. Child 2 - they got broken by the midwife in induced labour.

How long can your mum stay? If you have no other fast childcare options i'd ring her.

The time I went into labour naturally my waters didn't break until 5mins before ds2 was born.

Can you time your contractions to see if they're coming regularly?

I left it almost too late to call my mum (she had a 1hr drive and it was the middle of the night so I didn't want to get her up unnecessarily). We ended up having to take ds1 with us to hospital and she met us there - ds2 had arrived before she got ds1 home!

Oh my! I will focus and see how regularly I'm getting the feelings and give my mum ring I think. Eep.
