Hi, I'm 12 wks and 2 days and I just wanted to know if anyone has been the same as me in pregnancy. Since 6 wks I've been unable to work or do much at all because I'm just so weak, dizzy and nauseous. The combination literally floors me. I know other women suffer loads but when I read threads they're still going to work etc. I literally can't. I don't have hyperemisis, just severe exhaustion, nausea, dizziness and some vomiting combined and it literally puts me on my back. I'm 43 so that might play a part in it. I have a 3 year old daughter and my preg was the same with her up until around 16 wks. Thankfully she is at school until 3 o clock, so i realise im lucky in that respect. I just dont understand why I feel so ill to carry on, of course you feel guilty also that you're failing at everything ie being a good wife, mother, friend etc but I feel to exhausted to do anything about it. I wish i was stronger and just carried on regardless but my body won't let me. Can anyone help?

Congratulations OP. Have you had your 12 week scan yet?

I don’t feel as bad as you’re describing but I can empathise. I haven’t suffered from sickness at all but I’m so completely exhausted (11+2) that it’s as much as I can do just to get to the office each day. I’ve even had to take a break when climbing 1 or 2 flights of stairs because I get out of breath and dizzy. Par for the course, my midwife tells me – not a lot you can do about it but rest! Which I imagine is terribly easy with a three year old… Grin

Just because you don't have Hyperemesis doesn't mean you should suffer! Speak to your Dr about getting something to help with the dizziness and nausea. While constant sickness isn't the best (HG suffers myself) the nausea can be just as debilitating as you've found out. I barely managed to complete my dissertation and I was on anti sickness tablets. I had to also give up work completely.

Don't feel bad, but I'd definitely speak to your Dr.

I was exactly the same until about 13 weeks, I'm now 15 weeks and feeling much more human! It's so so debilitating isn't it - I could pretty much do nothing but lie down for 7 weeks, it was really really tough. I'm a SAHM with a 2.5 year old who isn't in nursery. No way could I have worked this pregnancy. My husband had to take time off because I couldn't look after toddler properly! I hope you are feeling better soon - and statistics I've seen do suggest you should be feeling better very soonFlowers

I'm 8 + 3 with no 2 and I feel the
Same, absolutely exhausted and the sickness Is killing me, I can't eat big meals otherwise I get the worse stomach ache. I also have a 16 month old and it's such hard work just getting her up and getting her to bed. Really hope it passes in a few weeks

I'm at 7w3d with number 4 and I'm 44, and I've been absolutely floored with nausea and exhaustion right from week 5. I think age is definitely a part of it, as none of my other pregnancies were ever as bad as this; I've decided that if it gets worse (throwing up more than twice a day) then I will go to my GP to get something to help.Thankfully there are far more options than there were when I had DD3 10 years ago! It does wipe me out, and the thought of another 7-10 weeks of this fills me with dread. You're definitely not alone!

Hi ladies, thank you all so much for replying. You feel so isolated when you feel like this especially when you speak to other women on their pregnancies and they don't even so much as go off coffee or even a single wave of nausea- you think to yourself how on earth did they manage to dodge that bullet, lol. Do any of you have food aversion also. I can only eat hummus and celery and plain cod with plain veg. Healthy I guess but it's so unlike me who usually eats big portions and loves food.

Constant food aversion here. A different one added to the list each week (39+2) but some rotate out. I couldn't eat hot pizza for about 6 months but can now. I couldn't eat cheese for a long time or milk but can now.
Still can't stand tomato sauces so beans etc are out of the question. As is a huge list of things too long to mention right now.

It's so funny how you rotate food you go off. I'm starting to go off celery and hummus and onto ready brek. No idea why, I've not eaten it since I was 12. I'm finding I cant even handle cooking some foods because of the smell. My poor hubby has gone from eating like a king every night to boiled chicken breast as i cant stand anything fried in oil xx

I still can't stand the smell if chicken cooking but can eat it. Considering I have HG I survived only on sausages and ice lollies for 12 weeks nd even then I couldn't eat sausages all the time.
I got to week 13 and all was well for sausages. And then week 36 hit and I couldn't eat them again. Still make me a bit woozy now.

I'm 11w1d and I felt awful from 3 weeks to 10weeks. So glad I'm started feeling better. This is my second, first pregnancy was a breeze but I was a lot younger and didnt have a dc/ parental duties to deal with, maybe that contributed.

Hopefully you feel better soon Op Smile

I am the same. I am 37 years old, having my first baby and 9 weeks today. I am useless. I have chronic health problems that make me ill anyway but I have been managing quite well for the past year or so. I worked from home part-time. Now I am just pretty flat on my back most of the time and my work and income have taken a nose-dive, which has made me anxious. I wasn't expecting it to be this bad.

I also have the food aversion because I feel so nauseous and have been sick. It's weird how what I want to eat changes and it makes buying food so difficult as well because you don't know what you'll fancy. I only really want plain and dryish stuff other than Heinz tomato soup and some fruit. The thought of anything smelly cooking makes me want to be sick. I can't cook a thing, even opening the fridge door is a challenge as I can smell everything so acutely.

I am glad for the internet as it makes me feel it's not that abnormal to feel like this. I don't know anyone personally who has suffered like this. They all seemed to carry on as normal! My mum had mild nausea and aversion to things due to smells, but not to the extent I am and she wasn't so completely floored energy-wise either.

I felt the same in the first 12 weeks, I’m JUST about starting to lift the fog from it all but it’s awful. My previous two pregnancies were nothing like this one, I had hyperemesis with my eldest and my second pregnancy was pretty good but this one I feel so lazy! I work from home and I still can’t be bothered. I just simply don’t have the energy for it.
I also hear you on food aversions and smells! I was fine until about 11 weeks and then this hit me like a tonne of bricks. I smelt my dogs Halloween costume yesterday and it smelt like pork scratching someone gave him when he was trick or treating with the kids and it ended me there and then! A big vomit cleanup followed

Hi, I also have brain fog. I've just been to see the consultant at the hospital for general tests etc but when it came to rebooking appointments etc I got really confused and burst into tears. It's like the information was bouncing off me. I feel so out of control. There's days when I wouldn't even consider driving as I'm not switched on enough. The combination of brain fog, exhaustion and nausea is horrible. Thanks again for all your responses it's helped xx
