I've got a early reassurance scan tomorrow and I'll be around 9 weeks gone.
What should i expect to see.
Should i tell the person who scans me about a one time spotting incident. And about weird cramping pain I keep getting in my left ovary? And a constant stitch in my ribs.

I'm so scared we're not going to see anything and dreading the worse..!Confused xxx

Go with a full bladder. Mention the spotting. They will prob scan you via your tummy, then send you for a wee and scan you internally. Which means knickers / skirt / trousers / tights off and they’ll give you a sheet to cover yourself. If you wear a full skirt you can keep it on. They make you almost hang off the end of the couch and there will be supports for your feet. It’s a plastic probe that they cover with a condim and lube . It’s a bit odd but not painful. The lube makes a bit of a mess, so bring a pantyliner or pad for after. They’ll check that the pregnancy is a single one, and if it’s in the right place (not ectopic). If you are 9 weeks they should see a heartbeat, and possibly more detail. If they see less, they will explain why.

Good luck!

Iv had many internal scans after having 5 previous mcs. I'm just so scared as I'll be going for the scan on my own as my husband will be picking our other kids from school. Scans at 3:15.
Will the baby look like a blob or an actual baby?
I really want another healthy baby. It's going to be our last child so want all to be well xx

I think it'll look like a bit of both at 9 weeks! Have a look at the Images on the pregnancy + app, they show real life scans at each week. You'll probably be able to see a head outline and a prawn shape. Good luck OP. X

I had a scan at 9+2 and we got a little arm bud wave from a small wee prawn shaped fetus.
Good luck. Hope all goes well for you.

Our 9+3 scan was a big blob with smaller blobs for arms and legs. Tiny little heartbeat and everything. Was visible abdominal but better images transvaginally! Said blob is currently poking me in the ribs at 27+5. Have attached a photo of our scan for you!

I had an early scan at 9 weeks exactly.

Like the others, it did look more like a tiny blob but you could tell it was a tiny tiny baby.
I also got to see a strong heartbeat, which was lovely.

I was very lucky as I have had to have internal scans at all my NHS scans so far due to a tilted womb.

But at my 9 week private scan, I did not need an internal scan so it was a fantastic experience.

I have now had 2 private scans with Baby Bond at Mothercare and they have been amazing. Can not praise Baby Bond highly enough.

Good luck today :)

Thank you. It does say on the letter that it will be a internal scan. But I don't mind As long as we see a heart beat. I'm just a bit sad because I'll be going on my own as my husband will be picking our children up from school. Confused as we've recently moved to the area we don't know anyone or any childminders yet. But I got everything crossed xx

Well it's not good.they couldn't find a heart beat and I was measuring 6 weeks. I have to make an appointment for 2 weeks to Rescan and if still no heart beat it's a d&c job. My head is all over the place SadSadSad

OP I’m so so sorry to hear this :( But if you’re only measuring 6 weeks it can be very difficult to find a heart beat at this stage which is obviously why they don’t offer ‘early scans’ until nine weeks to make it easier to find a heartbeat so I know you’re probably feeling a bit lost with today’s events but try to stay positive for your scan in two weeks and stay relaxed. So sorry OP. Hopefully the 6 week date is correct and it's just too soon. I'll be thinking of you over the next two weeks. X
