Pregnant and want to get drunk.

Just for the record, I'm not going to get but fuck I'd love to just get a bit drunk tonight. Finished a run of shift work, had a shitty day and would love to just work my way through a few drinks.

Talking about missing a drink is almost as taboo as actually drinking in pregnancy so I can't say it in real life! It's so hard watching dh enjoying a few drinks and all I've got is a hot bath and some co codamol to look forward to Grin.

Anyone else missing it or has pregnancy turned you all into earth mamas?!

Yeah I’d love to be able to drink! A few times I’ve been out with my friends and it’s not the same when you’re sober.

I know! I'm in a new job and a staff party with new colleagues and no booze is a bit scary!

I never liked being drunk before i was pregnant and don’t now, but I do randomly have the urge to have an ice cold beer. I don’t even like beer, but it looks super good right now

I definitely miss having a drink! It’s not for too long though.

But I’m not sure you should have co-codamol unless you’ve spoken to your GP/midwife? Confused

So I'm going to miss the staff party all together Sad

Hope you enjoy your bath OP!

I've not missed alcohol so far but I know it's gonna hit me like a ton of bricks at christmas.

Lemonade or similar in a wine glass? I know it is not the same but maybe it will fool you into thinking you are having a drink.

Hot chocolate, a bath and cocodamol (also prescribed) is on the agenda for me tonight as well.

I was admittedly a binge drinker before getting pregnant, loved my weekends getting drunk and socialising but since being pregnant I haven’t missed it once. When socialising with friends I have the non alcoholic versions (There are LOADS) and no hangover the next day which is bonus 👍

I don't even drink that much normally, but yes there have been times I've really missed it - on holidays or at the end of a particularly bad week. Posh lemonade in a wine glass is good, and non alcoholic wine is ok too. And, of course, make sure to use those booze calories on the particularly unhealthy snack of your choice.

I've not missed alcohol much at all but there's been one or two really intense weeks at work where I've fancied a glass of wine on a Friday night. Not had one though.

Just realised that we're hosting Christmas at ours this year, the in laws are coming to stay and I'll be 36 weeks pg and stone cold sober ConfusedShock

I didn't miss it at all in my first pregnancy. I think it's the stress of parenting Wink!

I just really want that initial hit which sounds bad writtain out Blush.

Nah, there's no sip like the first sip! I frequently (used to) pour a large glass of wine, take the first sip or two, and then put it on the coffee table behind me and completely forget about it. But that first sip...

In fairness, that much occasionally would probably be just fine in pregnancy. Getting drunk not so much.

I drank a lot of tonic water with lime to pretend it was a G&T. I feel your pain!

I know the feeling. Also booked a table for my favourite restaurant for my birthday next weekend and I know its not going to be the same without their signature steak tartare washed down with several glasses of red wine and a few cocktails afterwards.

I'd be a bit worried to be honest. Do you not think wanting to get drunk sounds like there might be a problem? Will dh not stop drinking to support you

I’m not a big drinker at all, but had to sit through two weddings sober this summer, while my partner had a great time in the free wine! Just glad I’ll be able to enjoy my Buck’s Fizz at Christmas as Im 35 weeks now ...
though, I can’t even enjoy a bath as the last time I had one, I got bloody stuck!

I do miss my roll-ups

Sophkins are you serious? OP's pregnant and fancies a drink, she's made it clear she's not going to drink but you think there might be a problem because of this? Good God.

MrsC OP lives in a household that has addiction problems so it’s probably an appropriate assumption to make that she may be struggling and to offer support.

Becks blue is lovely too.

We went away three times while I was pregnant and it was hard not having a drink in the sunshine, especially as there's a specific cocktail I usually get and without the alcohol it's just fruit juice!

Now DD is here I've not had more than one drink on a few occasions, the thought of a hangover and an 8 week old scares me too much.

I lived on becks blue last time. I can't recreate that feeling you get when it hits you with a soft drink though. I sound a bit sad missing that I know!!

I've had my lovely bath now and feeling a bit better.

sophkins I don't have any problem with alcohol and I won't get drunk. I just really crave that drunk feeling.

God I've found the hardest part of being pregnant is not drinking! What I'd do to come home from work and have a glass of wine! I've been on two nights out drinking coke and it was just awful lol. Drinking non alcoholic kopperberg but it's just not the same. Pregnancy is one of the most stressful times of your life and my go to way to wind down has always been wine! And there's absolutely nothing wrong with admitting you miss drinking! 17 weeks to go... Hmm
