I’ve got 3.5 weeks to go and I just don’t feel like doing anything or seeing anyone. I take my 3.5 year d to nursery and pick him up and that’s it. I am tired of the area we live in which is urban and dirty and I don’t feel like going to the local parks/ playgrounds. I feel bad because my son is watching so much tv but I also wonder if anyone else expecting their second feels like this? I’m normally desperate to get out of the house- I just feel really down. Anyone?

I don't have any kids yet, pregnant with what will hopefully be my first, but just wanted to say I'm really sorry you're feeling like this. You must be tired, being heavily pregnant and with a young son. Your hormones will be playing a role as well! Friends of mine who are having their second have all said it's hard when you get towards the end. I wouldn't feel bad about your son watching TV; it's not forever, and you have to just look after yourself and get the rest you need for now. Maybe you should mention how you're feeling to your midwife - they are there to support you with everything in pregnancy, including low mood. Have you talked to your partner? Is he/she supportive?

Hope things pick up for you soon CakeFlowers

Thanks SaltK- yes I’ve talked to
my husband who is keen that I rest but as I’m usually an energetic person I just feel trapped and down about shuffling about the house sitting on my backside. My energy is so low it’s a bit like my body is forcing me to rest but I just feel useless!

@Mosquitoburrito 3 weeks to go and I’m so fed up, but just trying to enjoy every second with DS1 before the new one arrives , as I know our whole world is going to change! Trying to occupy ourselves with lots of crafty things for Christmas has worked wonders - and also means I get to sit down a lot!

Tootsieglitterballs- what things have you stopped doing now? Crafts would be great but my son really isn’t that calm so not really an option. He is also going through lovely screamy phase so I feel
Like a slummy mummy as I am very quick to give him what he wants as I have little energy for this at the moment. How old is your ds1 glitter balls?

The last month is really tough it feels like it's going to last forever. Be easy on yourself. I didn't want to leave the house or see anyone at all but try and make the most of it and get some rest. X

I am first time mum and 36 weeks I feel like this. I just don't want to do anything but at the same time I feel so low. It's not that I'm not excited about being a mum or happy or looking forward to it I just feel utterly drained, sluggish like I want to just cry. I have no energy to do anything or distract myself yet it feels like I'm watching paint dry. It's boredom but also unwillingness to change it. I feel guilty because my husband is excited I just keep pushing him away. I want to be alone but I also feel really alone like a screen is up and the world is happening around me. I'm sorry to go on about me, I guess what am trying to say is I think I can relate. I'm sorry if this is how you feel to, but also you are not alone in it x

@Mosquitoburrito our DS1 is almost 3, and not at nursery so is home with me every day.
We still get out for a walk everyday , usually into the local woods (but aware we are very lucky to have that on our doorstep)
I struggle to walk into our town at the moment as it’s all uphill unfortunately, so that’s taken a step back, and we have stopped going to the toddler group we went to a few weeks ago as I was having so many hospital appointments that fell at the same time. More time for me and him though which is great.
We do a lot of reading at the moment (in a den - I get to lie down!) or playing make believe (so I get to rest!) but also do a lot of dancing around when I have the energy. We do however have the tv on a fair bit too! He seems to understand I’m really tired and in quite a lot of pain!
We’ve done a lot of baking, crafts like I mentioned, and he’s also been great at doing ‘jobs’ with me around the house (sorting baby things etc).
It doesn’t sound like we do a lot, but it keeps us both entertained in these last few weeks!

Tootsieglitterballs your son sounds amazing - mine has no Idea about the baby and is pulling me about and climbing all over me. He is sadly not good at calm activities although my husband and I are working on that. Newmum, what you describe
Is exactly how I’m feeling I just don’t remember having it with my first child. I hope you feel a bit better soon.
