A few people told my husband this was bad luck when he said we were going to collect ours. I told him it was total bollocks and pram is assembled and waiting in the spare room.

I kept the one we bought for my eldest at my parents, with our second we bought one on eBay and kept it at home. I’m a bit superstitious though, it just seemed to tempt fate and someone I know who was due three months before me had a stillbirth too so that didn’t help.

Kept ours in the garage till the baby came home from hospital

We had ours at home for a few months beforehand. We had a dog so needed her to get used to all the bits and pieces before baby came. Put all the baby gates etc up as well so it wasn't all too strange.

I honestly wouldn't worry x

We kept ours at home because we have no family close by. It came in super handy though when DS arrived 5 weeks early and it was ready and waiting. I’m not hugely superstitious but a few people made the same comment to me. I just tried to ignore them and think practically. We had no other choice!

What about subsequent kids? The pram has been here for YEARS.

DM kept mine at hers, personally I'm not superstitious but she is. She's anal about them all such as not putting new shoes on the table, throwing salt over her shoulder if she spills it etc. Bizarrely her mind wasn't changed when she dropped the bathroom mirror & smashed it then won 5k on the lottery the next evening Confused

It’s utter bollocks and bloody sick too playing on the fears of expectant parents.

Superstitious bullshit. Believe me, your health or that of your baby is not influenced by the presence or otherwise of equipment or clothing.

Mine was in the attic until I have birth. Had the car seat down though from 3 weeks before due date

Ridiculous superstition! If your pram fits in your house, keep it there, no point shipping it off to storage!!!

I lived in a tiny flat when we were expecting DS1 so it sat assembled for months before he arrived.

Yeah I'm not generally superstitious but my aunt is.. And I was like.. Of I had the room indoors I would. But I haven't. So once built it will go to either in laws or my dad's lol

Never heard of it here in the Netherlands. Lots of us still alive here so you might not want to fret about it.

Yeah and like PP said.. what about 2nd/3rd etc babies? I'm not directing that question at you OP but it's interesting isn't it. Our pram is upstairs from DD while waiting for this baby to arrive xx

I feel such superstitions are just left overs from the times where we used to drown and burn women for witchcraft if their neighbours milk turned sour. Some people never let go and continued to pass down random shite through family lines and believe every other random shite story they pick up along the way.
I can't imagine if there was any mysterious magic in the world that it would specifically target the lives of those who brought a pram into their house before a baby was born

Absolute nonsense and a truly horrible thing to think. For all of us who've lost a baby I can guarantee none of the reasons were because someone brought their pram into the house. We put ours together last weekend at 32wks...it's all ready now for our little boy to arrive.

Are people really going round telling or implying to pregnant women they could be bringing a stillbirth on themselves by getting a pram? I don't have kids yet but if someone said that to me I would be gobsmacked and absolutely furious. Bang out of order.

Never heard of this! We had one in the house from six weeks pregnant onwards cos I happened to find exactly what I wanted whilst shopping for something else!

It's only a bad idea if you have a dcat! . Once got half way down the St with the little buggar asleep under the cover!!

We didnt have a choice, found a bargain pram when i was 17 weeks so we had ours for a long time. We put it in the spare room until baby arrived. Didn't occur to me to put it anywhere else. Bad things don't happen to people who get their pram too early, they happen to anyone at any time
