Tell me what to do before baby arrives...

Finished work yesterday for maternity leave at 36w pregnant Grin feel really exhausted and last few weeks at work were really stressful trying to get projects handed over.
I have a list as long as my arm for things that need doing around the house (odd jobs, cleaning, sorting DIY stuff) but I'd love some more interesting ideas!

What did you do on mat leave before baby arrived that you were really glad you did?

I washed all of the babies clothes and sorted them all out. I also cleaned the house within an inch of its life! Another thing I am really glad we did was fill the freezer with lots of easy and quick teas, we really welcomed that when the baby arrived as I was poorly. And lastly I stocked up on cleaning products etc so I had everything!

Hi pomadas I too finished work yesterday, I'm 37 weeks on Monday. I plan to wash all the baby clothes, clean and cook. I'm going to get a haircut and would love a massage so might look into that. I'd welcome other ideas too😊

Go to the cinema
Lie in the bath alone

Go to the cinema without needing a babysitter, sleep, haircut or similar.

Sleep, get your haircut, sleep, go out for meals with your partner, sleep, catch up with old friends, sleep, enjoy deciding to go somewhere and being able to leave the house almost immediately, sleep!

Go the cinema. Take baths. Go out for walks whenever you feel like it. Have hot cups of tea that stay hot whilst you finish them. Maybe get out to a museum or a gallery? Practically, batch cooking as much as you can or getting ready meals in is a good plan. Things like long life milk too.

Plan which box sets to watch when you aren't getting any sleep, stock the freezer, find out the details of your nearest drop in centre, breast feeding support, HV clinic. Learn how to put the car seat in the car and the pram up and down. Get a load of extra large sandwich bags, and bag up whole outfits for both the baby and for you, so that when you are struggling to shower and get dressed in the morning you have everything to hand.

Haircut, long baths, those types of restaurants and bars with food that you just know you can't take a pushchair into. Try daytime naps too. I only ever nap when very pregnant or have a migraine. But oh how I want to nap with a small baby!

Haircut and sleep. As PP have said my DS is now 7 months and I've done neither since! Grin

Thanks everyone! Haircut is a great idea, and will definitely do some batch cooking.
I don't mind going to the cinema on my own so will definitely do that this week during the daytime!

Yep cinema and haircut are on my list too. DD arrived early so I had no time to do anything last time. Hoping the baby holds on a bit this time and I can have some chill out time on the days DD is in nursery.

Make thank you cards ready for when baby arrives and you get inundated with gifts Smile

Cinema. Haircut. Pedicure. Read a book. Catch up with friends.

If you have anyone's birthday around your due date or first few weeks with baby, then you could organize cards and presents, wrap and get them ready for posting or handing over in advance.

Went for long walks. Sat in coffee shops. Went to the gym. Cooked like a maniac, baked and filled the freezer. Took afternoon naps.

Its more what I didn't do.

I wish I had totally totally decluttered my house within an inch of its life, then it wouldnt have all seemed so overwhelming.

Same with baby clothes. Less is more.

Can't believe nobody has said that you should read a really good book. It doesn't matter if your house isn't beautifully painted, or if there's clutter. But for the next 18 months at the very least you won't be able to sit and read a book. I would do that now!

I got my hair cut and coloured as knew I wouldn't have time after. Batch cooked and froze about 30 portions of meals (absolute lifesaver). Washed and sorted baby clothes and readied the nursery. Slept - a lot.
