Chemical Pregnancy?

HI,

Just hoping for some advice! I'm 35 and my husband and I just started trying to conceive at the beginning of the month.

I read up on the process on the internet (sounds very technical lol), bought some ovulation test strips and track my periods in an app so knew when it told me I was due to be ovulating. My cycle is 28 days pretty much like clockwork, and I got my lh surge on day 14 of my cycle.

Sorry if this is TMI but we had sex almost every day of my 'fertile window' according to the app, but literally a couple of days later I started to feel some dull aching a bit like period pains except sometimes they would be stabby. This lasted for about 3-5 days but this seems far too early for implantation pain given it was almost immediately after we had sex. I was a bit worried maybe I had a UTI.

Anyway I'm now 3 days away from my period. At the weekend there were a couple of times I felt a bit sick so yesterday I took a cheap pregnancy test - one I got off amazon - and got a very pale line. I couldn't help myself and rushed out to the shops and bought a first response and a clear blue test and they both came back positive.

I can't really believe it..everything seems a bit too good to be true. Because of my age I thought it might take us a year at least to conceive so I'm a bit shocked that all this has gone so by the book...but my main concern is that maybe this is a chemical pregnancy (I've been reading about those too), especially given the early pain? I'm feeling OK now...still a few twinges from time to time...but other than that no real pregnancy symptoms....no bleeding (yet)...but implanation isn't meant to happen as early as I felt pain and cramps...

I'm dreading the end of the week because I'm going to be so disappointed if this all goes wrong...and I'm also wondering if I do get my period at the end of the week do I need to go to the Doctor and tell them I got a positive test, or do I just leave it and keep trying next cycle?

Seems to me there’s no evidence that you will have a chemical pregnancy but unfortunately there’s just no way to know whether a baby will stick or not. If you’re getting positives now, that’s good. Pain is also totally normal. I had period pains for about a week before my BFP and on and off pain for the first 6 weeks so it’s not an indicator of anything going wrong, just your body adjusting.
Try to relax and maybe test a few days after your period is due to set your mind at rest!

Thanks cakesandphotos....stressing out probably won't help. All the waiting is driving me crazy it's a real emotional rollercoaster...i keep wanting to test every day!! I guess what will be will be though.

Test every couple of days, to monitor the line. That’s all you can do, I’m afraid.

Hiya, if you got the pains a couple of days after what you believe to be your fertile window they could simply have been ovulation cramps. Seems the most likely scenario to me. Best of luck for your pregnancy!
