Looking for pram suggestions - outdoorsy!

Hello!

Looking for pram suggestions - we are non drivers and do a lot of walking mainly country roads and muddy tracks. We use public transport a fair bit and we also live in a tiny house with no porch or anything so something foldable / easy to store would be ideal too.

I've looked at the babyzen yoyo but worry it might not cope with the muddy walks.

Me too! Got a dog so lots of county parks, foot paths and beaches.

Have you looked at mountain buggy and baby jogger prams? There's no way a Yoyo would cope with lots of muddy off roading; you are going to want tires not wheels I think.

I have the mountain buggy terrain, comes with 12 and 16 inch rear wheels and handles all the terrains we've thrown at it (coastal, big tractor rutted tracks, gnarly tree root covered forest floors)
We also bought the carrycot plus for it, carrycot that coverts into a sort of hammock seat which my daughter loved

What about getting a lightweight folding pram for town and a baby sling/carrier for the muddy walks? That's what we're planning to do. We live in the middle of the woods where there are no paved roads and lots of muddy, lumpy trails. I can't imagine pushing any kind of pram through it! But maybe your country walks are more pram friendly than ours.

To be honest, muddy tracks and pushchairs (unless proper all terrain ones) don't really mix, you'd be better off using a carrier for those walks. Country lanes should be fine with most, but not ones like the yoyo, that's deffo a city pushchair. Have a look at Phil and teds and babyjogger.

I've got the baby jogger city mini GT, can fold up quite small for storage and I bought a second hand carrycot from eBay for £30 for the early days

Out n About Nipper. Goes anywhere.. you should see the mud and abuse mine has taken, it's brilliant

Sling to 6 months or confident sitting, then something like the Deuter Kid Comfort (2 or 3). Osprey also do one.

We do lots of walking on random footpaths rather than parks with accessible routes- pushchair is a total white elephant. We do drive so maybe a pushchair with a big basket underneath for shopping...

From what I've seen, all-terrain pushchairs are usually big and bulky (as they have to have big wheels), and the smaller, compact pushchairs don't cope well on rough terrain. I agree with the PP who suggested a good sling/carrier for country walks and a pushchair for public transport and town/city - something light, compact and easy to fold.

I have the Icandy peach 3 all terrain. I'm sorry I don't know how well it would fair on really really tough terrain but I've taken it everywhere, across fields and through the woods etc and it's never been an issue! It folds so small I can stand it (freestands) in the boot of my Peugeot 107!! And they are tiny but you do have to take the seat/carrycot part off before folding x

Out and about nipper, is bulky but a great outdoor pram. Very easy to fold and unfold too. Slings are handy, but a good pram saves your back.

I also bought the icandy peach all terrain - haven't used it yet as baby isn't due until sept 1st, so can't comment but the wheels are big so less likely to get clogged with leaves, feels very sturdy, and is very easy to manoeuvre, which is why we bought it - both mine and OH's families live rural and we are hoping to get out and about on plenty of country walks!

Jools Geo wheels are fab has handled ALL terrain the mono has a BIG shopping basket that clips on and off.

Baby jogger city mini GT for normal walks (ours fine on towpath etc but not in thick thick mud), plus a sling /carrier for v rough ground or mud! Baby jogger has lasted us from birth (with second hand carrycot) to 2.5y so far. Folds really quickly and well.

A sling and the out n about 360 have covered us for any eventuality. Highly recommend.

We actually had the icandy all terrain,
I was assuming you wanted something smaller. It certainly copes with most terrain. We used it on the beach, across fields and at a very muddy festival. However, the fact that it doesn't fold with the seat attached is a complete pain, particularly as the baby gets bigger. And it's pretty heavy. I ended up using the sling far more than I thought I would and sold the icandy on eBay when DS was a year old and replaced it with a one piece stroller.

Yes it you're taking a pushchair on public transport, you absolutely must be able to fold it in one piece (i.e. without removing the seat).

I don't take ours on public transport but we don't have room in our hall (or anywhere practical) to leave it unfolded, so being able to fold it with the seat on was essential. It ruled out quite a few!

A 3 wheeler - icandy peach. We have an uppababy vista and it would be a lot easier with 3 wheels. My best advice is a great carrier though. We have an ergobaby with infant insert.

We've got the Bugaboo Cameleon which has done really well over uneven paths, muddy fields etc. But we've also (as pp mentioned) used our ergobaby carrier for really long walks where paths are too narrow for any pushchair.

Out n About Nipper would be my first thought if you're outdoorsy. I'm most likely buying a double one for when #2 arrives.
