Overdue baby

I was due to have my first baby on 1st August. I've tried everything to get baby to arrive (had a sweep on 1st too) apart from sex as OH reckons he will hurt baby (typical man) 🙄

Any other suggestions even just to take my mind off the fact that baby isn't here and I see new babies everywhere I go?

No advice I'm afraid but just wanted to let you know you're not alone. I'm now a week overdue and my calm is starting to desert me. I've declined a sweep and have been bouncing on my gym ball to try and get things moving. Your baby didn't know they were due to come on the 1st, but I'm sure they'll be along soon (fingers crossed!).

@Ookmybanana How annoying is it?!
I've been on my ball non stop for about 2 weeks. The sweep wasn't too bad and I've got another on Monday if baby hasn't made an appearance by then. I'm so fed up, I feel like I've been pregnant forever!🙄

Do you know what you're having?

I was due July 31st so I know how you feel. Had a sweep yesterday and have an appointment booked for aromatherapy and another sweep tomorrow.

I spent so long counting down to my due date that I don't know what to do with myself now it has passed!

Well, apart from counting down to my induction date and hoping I don't get that far!!

I know I'm having a boy and it seems like every bloody day a friend of a friend on Facebook has had their baby boy.

Boy for us as well. I was really ready a week ago but as time passes it all seems less real and my confidence in my ability to do this is fading. It's like being stuck in an airport waiting for a delayed flight but with no idea of how long it's delayed for!
I keep googling for advice, so pineapple, spicy food, walking, sex, nipple and clitoral stimulation apparently all help. But none of it guaranteed and the empirical evidence is scant! I'll stick to my birthing ball cos I don't think my piles can cope with spicy food! Grin

I was due on the1st too, I feel your pain!
I have a sweep booked in for tomorrow, but I was 8 days late with my first so I'm not getting my hopes up. Are you all sick of the "any signs yet?"

I was crying my eyes out on Tuesday because I felt like a total failure for not going into labour by my due date. Totally stupid and irrational but there you go!

Apparently something like 4% of babies arrive on their due date.
Hang in there op.

I have found my people! I was due on 2nd but honestly thought she was going to be much earlier as by my dates (only had sex over one weekend last October as DP was away) I was dead certain she'd be here by the 29th! Its my first baby and I'm just exhausted, achy and moody and want her here so much!
Let's update each other if anything happens!

Also - Madras curry, yoga ball bouncing, sex, hot baths, scrubbing the house, and walking... don't work AT ALL.

I went two weeks over, feel for you. None of the usual tricks worked for me. A friend swears scrubbing the floor kicks things off, I was never that desperate though.

I've tried bouncing on my ball, dates, raspberry leaf tea, sex and as much walking as I can manage (which isn't a lot). It's impossible for me to kneel or crawl as I fell at 35 weeks and landed with all my weight on my knee and it's still bruised and sore. And knowing my luck curry would just make my heartburn 100x worse and do nothing to shift the baby.

At least I know he'll be here by the 14th or 15th as my induction is booked for the 11th.

PS love the delayed flight analogy. Everyone messaging and asking if the flight has been rescheduled yet and telling you to enjoy the food & drink vouchers while you can...

@NinaMarieP I was the same last night!

I don't know what I'm having which is annoying me too. We decided not to find out & now I regret it cos I think it would be a little easier for me.

I've tried them all apart from sex, I live on my birthing ball, that doesn't seem to be doing anything. My back aches all the time so walking and cleaning hurt so much 🙁

@DigitalGhost do you know what you're having? Any closer to looking like baby will arrive?

@anchor9 I'll give that a go, can't do any harm ☺️

Hi, due on 1st too and no sign of my boy. Going mental with paranoia for stillbirth/lack of movement and sitting in Hospital waiting room waiting for monitoring as we speak.

Declined an induction last night - really really want to avoid that and to be honest chickened out at the thought of doing it overnight when I was so tired. In limbo where I don't want to give birth but don't want to be pregnant any more either!

Good luck ladies - we won't be waiting more than a week now!!

SarahS2404 · 04/08/2017 14:11

@Libbylove2015 I hope everything goes well for you, please keep us updated!

I've got another sweep on Monday if baby hasn't arrived and they have booked me to be induced on 13th if baby still hasn't arrived Hopefully it won't come to that as I don't want to wait another 9 days x

OP I'm the same - sweep Monday and induction next weekend. Really hoping things get moving before that though as it sounds uncomfortable and invasive Sad

Libby I'm the same, I had a CTG yesterday purely to try to reduce my anxiety.

I had another sweep today though, have progressed to 2 cm and softer/shorter etc so I'm hoping something will happen over the weekend.

@SarahS2404
I declined a sweep on Tuesday as apparently you're only allowed 2 and the midwife said it would more likely to work after 41 weeks. Got one booked for next Tuesday and Thursday but my midwife is convinced I won't make the appointments.
Fingers crossed!

@RedPandaMama the sweep wasn't too bad. When I went for it the midwife said if they were to go and induce me, because I was 2cm they would just go ahead and break my waters ☺️

@DigitalGhost I hope it works for you then! My partner thinks I'll go on Sunday. It's his mums birthday and she's no longer with us so it would be nice if baby was to come then :)
