Hi mummies and mummies to be! Here for some advice (FTM) hope someone has been in the same boat and can offer some advice or share their story!

It all started last night with mild cramps on and off when I was waking up for a pee I would take a few mins to get back to sleep due to mild cramps, it continued all night and till this morning, tried my best to ignore it due to knowing it could be pre labour as it's not as strong as I expect contractions to be and it was longer than a min/min and a half. A little while after I woke up I was on my phone on social media and noticed that my lady part was wet (TMI - do apologise!) I ignored it at first due to me inserting Evening primrose oil every night to help soften my cervix... but then I touched again and I've noticed that it wasn't just a little drop and I have actually made a wet patch on our sheet the size of my hand... cramping was still active at this point and when I was timing them it seemed to be 15 mins apart lasting a min and a bit... called my assessment unit (led by midwives) and I was told to lay down for half hour put a pad on and observe if any more came out... they said it might just be discharge or pee but I know my pee first thing in the morning is always yellow-ish and this was just pure water with next to no smell... after half an hour I checked and there's no more other water leaks, 8 hours on and there's still nothing.

I've then called them back and they didn't seem too bothered to check or make me come in, the cramping has now also completely stopped (probably had about four 15 mins apart after noticing the water leak then stopped), which has left me very confused and slightly worried. Can anyone shed some light?

Sorry for the length of post but I wanted to be detailed with the whole thing to get the best advice if there's anyone out there on or have been on the same boat. TYVMIA.

Something like that happened to me with DD: the bit of the amniotic sac between her head and my cervix leaked, but then her head sealed it so the rest of them didn't go too, IYSWIM. If I recall correctly, it happened a few days before she was born but I wasn't having any sort of contractions like you are. Have you called and spoken to your actual midwife?

Hi ThomasRichard thanks for the response!

No not my actual midwife but to be completely honest I found my midwife to be uninterested, whenever I brought something up like my face, feet and hands swelling she didn't even comment on the matter. I don't think she cares too much is the impression I got, some med practitioners do really care but this one not so much. So I'm pretty stuck.

Last time I went in my assessment unit due to really bad groin pains (could hardly walk) I was told to go home and take paracetamol after waiting for 6 hours. Traumatising. So I've resorted to advice from mummies instead.

The cramps have now completely stopped so feeling lost.

Ask them to check you over. My hind waters went like this and I had to be induced a few days later due to step B and possibility of infection.

You're shoving evening primrose oil up there? WTAF? You don't need to oil your cervix!
And we don't need to use euphemisms like lady parts here. Boak! We're all grown ups!
Contact MW and insist on going in if you're concerned.

When I called they've not mentioned about coming in for a check - shall I just call and ask to be checked? I would have done so earlier but I know the wait in that place is a joke - last time I waited 6 hours or so Sad but if it is at risk of infection then I might well just call them in the morning and asked to be checked. Thank you!

Yup, I've heard on a lot of forums and other mums (and my hypnobirthing praftisioner) that this helps softens the cervix prior to going into labour and might help with the length of labour... I thought it was worth a go.

I had a fluid leak like this. It felt as though i had come on my period and when i checked, the fluid was clear with a very slight pink colour. I was checked over in maternity day assessment around lunchtime that day but they said i wasn't in labour. Contractions increased throughout the day and by 1am i was admitted to labour ward

They should check you to see if it is your waters.

And please don't put anything else up your vagina now your waters may have gone as you're susceptible to infection.

NetflixandBill thank you nice to hear someone that went through the same thing... sadly my cramps/contractions have stopped. So frustrating and scary!

Spam88 I thought the same just in case it was my waters. I'll definitely take that advice and just leave nature take its course now. Thank you!

I had tiny puddles ages ago that was the same as you describe. It was literally just clear discharge but if you are worried head to a day clinic/hospital as they can analyse what fluid is. xxx

Gothbaby is there a way of them internally testing me to find out? As no more has come out since this morning, midwife from day assessment unit recommended I put a pad on to see if any more came out I'm assuming so they can test it but no more has come out unfortunately.

When I used evening primrose oil tablets I became so wet down there.
However my waters also only partially broke later on too. Go to the antinatal unit and they will be able to tell. You don't want to leave it too long like I did (55 hours) and end up with an infection and baby got an infection and had to have antibiotics for a week in hospital.

Lillygreen I've been using it a few days now and so far I've not really been wet or anything no leaks as such!
It's hard cause it's not like the typical scenario and not so straight forward so of nothing happens still by tomorrow same time I'll just call and asked to be checked. Thank you!

RheBee I went to get checked once (again i had no pad or anything to bring) so I know they from do an ultra sound to check fluid levels in you and they can do an internal exam so they can physically see if there is change etc. x
