Baby measuring small at 20 weeks

I've had my 20 week scan and am being referred for a follow up scan because the baby's head is on the smaller end of the normal range - measuring about a week behind. DD always measured a week or two behind and was born healthy but tiny, and is now a very large toddler.

But I'm worried bc I wasn't referred for an extra scan with DD and maybe they've seen something worrisome with this baby. The Downs test was normal and all of the core structures are fine.

Anyone had this and can share stories? Thanks.

Not sure how helpful it is but my DD measured small throughout my pregnancy and I had regular scans, including one shortly after 20 week scan. I ended up having scans weekly towards the end as she was off the percentile chart. My bump measured 6 weeks too small too.
They were able to measure baby and make sure placenta/umbilical cord was working as it should be too.
I was induced early and she ended up weighing 6lb 8oz. Not nearly as small as they had measured!

Same happened to me, fortnightly scans, then weekly... got induced a few weeks before as he wasn't thriving anymore and low amniotic fluid levels. Gave birth to a gorgeous healthy 5lb9oz baby. You're in good hands and they're on the ball. See it as an opportunity to see your baby on the screen again and enjoy having a tiny baby. After the worry of it all it was lovely having a baby "for longer" if that makes sense. He's now 5 and the biggest in his class.

Thanks. I know I shouldn't worry too much because DD was the same throughout. They said she'd be very small but was born 6lb3oz which is small but not unusually so. I'm just making myself slightly crazy because they never said anything with DD even though she was also small at this point.

Seems there's a lot of margin of error with these scans though!
