What is this feeling!

I'm 17 and. A half weeks. I'm pretty big so people are saying for this far along but haven't felt baby kick yet. I'm aware it could be weeks yet.

I keep having this feeling infrequently since two days ago. Between my pubic bone and belly button a short fast tap feeling. Few times around the same spot then gone. It doesn't hurt but it's so so quick and it shocks me every time!

Is this baby led on a nerve or is it baby kicking? Or fanny daggers what people go on about?

Really? It feels quite strong for what I imagine baby to be in size or maybe it's just because it shocks me every time that I feel it that it feels strong!? If that makes sense. FTM so no idea what to expect. Some people say butterflies it felt like for them but it doesn't feel like that x

Yup, sounds like a kick!

My 28 week baby seems to have superhuman strength, stamina and stretch with all the kicking I get!

When you feel it again try having a lie down somewhere quiet and concentrate on the feeling, you might notice more.

A tap from the inside was exactly how I described the first kicks I felt. I didn't get butterflies or anything, just a very clear tap (and almost a weird faint little vibration afterwards). Definitely sounds like movement to me Smile

Definitely sounds like a kick. By about 20 weeks my ds was kicking me hard enough to wake me up!

I felt tapping at about 16 weeks, was totally dismissed by the midwife "you couldn't possibly feel anything yet" but the taps kept getting stronger and turned into kicks and thumps. It felt so odd at first but lovely too!

As for "fanny daggers" - good description! I got married at 31 weeks and jumped several times walking down the aisle while Ds was merrily dancing on my cervix and it felt a lot different to the taps!

Thanks everyone. Can't believe it's actually kicks! Felt it a few times today especially when eating? Then all seemed to Go quiet again when I was back to work haha. My midwife said I could feel anything from 15 weeks when I last seen her. Can't wait for them to get stronger it's so reassuring x
