Pregnancy

Driven to distraction by nausea and horrible taste

Just as the title says. I am starving but everything gives me a horrible taste after and I feel too sick to actually eat much. Got gaviscon but not sure if it's making it worse!
I'm 10. 4 weeks so going by previous pregnancies it may get worse and carry on a good few more weeks. Anything safe I can take/ask the Dr for or is that silly when it's not actually vomiting - my last pg I had to have tablets but I literally couldn't keep water down.

Most of the medications work on nausea, not just vomiting. I'm taking cyclizine. I take it once a day (you can up to 3 times). I didn't take anything for my last 3 pregnancies though was very ill on all those too. I have 3 preschoolers and am self employed so wasn't functioning at all. It's commonly taken so if you need it, take it. There are others if that doesn't work but usually they try that one first. It definitely tones down my nausea and vomiting for a few hrs.

Thank you. I think I will ring the Dr tomorrow. Every morning it's manageable for a short while then kicks in and gets worse through the day. My older dd is having surgery next week and I'm worried at how I will support her and cope in hospital feeling like this.

It's really tough Used. I try to live hr to hr until I get to enough weeks that it passes. That's usually 16 weeks for me.

I hope your DDs surgery goes ok, you will manage I promise. We always do what we have to.

Thank you YNAS and AUI.
Solidarity is always good! I get up feeling wobbley but not awful and it progresses throughout the day so it's here we go again from mid morning building to a crescendo as I'm putting the kids to bed, ugh!
I'll ring the GP today I think. I feel a bit pathetic as I was so much worse last time round in terms of actual vomiting and was quite ill with it but I'm worried as it didn't worse 11-16 weeks and I haven't time to be bedridden ( who has I know!)
Good to talk to people who have been/are there !

I find cyclizine kicks in after an hr rather than earlier. But if you are already horrific when you take it, it's not so effective. I try to take it at 12.00 in advance of the afternoon decline and I fine it holds my bad nausea off till 5pm ish when it kicks in with a vengance.

Thanks. Just fell asleep briefly so the sedative bit is working ! Still feel sick but hard to tell. Yes hopefully tomorrow I can take it before the really bad nausea kicks in.
Sounds like you are still getting nausea though ?
