Neither. It's a baby. Not a colour. Certainly not a gender stereotyped colour
Do people actually still say 'pink or blue' wtf?

Neither - white on a black background!

Sorry - I'm going to guess a girl. Just a hunch, no theory behind it.

Everyone else where do you want your medals sent for your oh so funny, original and sanctimonious comments?

Some of you girls should get certificates how fantastically sarcastic you are!

op, I think it's a boy :)

Maybe we just get fed up with other women contributing to our ridiculously gendered expectations of children?

Report
VikingVolva · 26/05/2017 07:56

Some people should realise that the terms 'pink' and 'blue' are much reviled on MN, and at least there was only mild sarcasm, not a full lecture on the harm of excessive gender stereotyping.

And yes, the picture is grey.

And the posters are much more likely to be adults, not (female) children.

Yes, I know all that sounds a bit stroppy.

But really it is better when publishing to a large readership to use unmarked terms, to avoid causing unintended difficulties. Basic consideration, if you think about it.

The comments, sadly, aren't original.

Just necessary, because colour coding of sexes is a fairly recent, and much deplored, phenomenon.

notomatoes · 26/05/2017 08:14

Really? I'm a fucking girl now? I'd best get into some pink then. I was planning on wearing some boy colours today too. Silly me.

namechange20050 · 26/05/2017 08:17

I never wear pink! Am I doing something wrong?!

Report
AppleOfMyPie · 26/05/2017 08:23

The comments are unnecessary.

The irony of Moaning about gender stereotyping whilst presuming the posters are female Grin

Maybe you are right Apple, part of me thought girl based on DD's scan pictures. but then this pregnancy has been so different, so much less sickness so we are thinking boy :)

Report
AppleOfMyPie · 26/05/2017 10:59

It's similar to mine, I'm due a boy next week.

Are you having a gender scan?

There's a website called ingender.com where you can upload your pics for more responses. They're less self righteous over there too.

Wind your necks in vipers... hard fo a viper to do I guess. OP everyone knew what you meant. Pink or blue to indicate sex at a scan I think isn't worth people getting a hernia about in my opinion. How do you all cope when you go to the children's bedding section in Laura ashley and see what's uder the boys' bedding and girls' bedding sections ??

I know what someone means when they use sexist terms - I also know what they mean when they use racist ones, doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy to steer them towards different words!

AppleOfMyPie · 26/05/2017 12:33

Kenneth, you're making a bit of a twat of yourself.

Sexist 😂😂😂

Fair enough point kenneth except I don't consider pink or blue sexist terminology myself

@FluffyEwok I think yours is difficult dune to baby not being flat. Im going to go with girl.
@MyNameIsNotYourName I think balmy as sure I can see the beginning of stacking for the boy bits.
@CherriesInTheSnow girl, going on nub position looking parallel to spine and d skull forehead not square.

I love guessing these because we're not finding out our third and last baby. In fact I'm avoiding looking at the first scan picture and will hope at the anomaly scan the cord is in the way

Apple

Please explain, why is it twatish to point out and challenge everyday sexism?

You see, I think it's more twatish to encourage sexism. And it is sexist, by the way. Treating a child differently due to their sex.

Report
Kennethwasmyfriend · 26/05/2017 13:10

Apple rather than the personal attack why not look up sexist in the dictionary? You sound quite confused. Using pink or blue as an abbreviation for male/female is steretyping, which is part of the definition of sexism.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 26/05/2017 13:11

@AppleOfMyPie I agree with your observations. Think you know which ones.
I submitted my daughter's dating scan to ingender and they correctly said girl.
Suppose it's a 50:50 chanc though
