Hi Guys - I was wondering about the need for pregnancy vitamins after the first trimester, what are people's views? I am almost 18 weeks and I think they are adding to an acid/metallic taste in my mouth. And it's becoming unbearable.

I have heard that it's only really Vitamin D you need to supplement after 12 weeks so can I just switch to this? I go on holiday next week & really don't want to have to put up with this all the time.

Thanks in advance for any advice xxx

Yes, you can switch to just vitamin D.

Are you taking pregnacare? I was but found they actually made my morning sickness symptoms much worse - I was never sick but just felt awful.

I'm taking seven seas at present (when I can remember) and am 21 weeks. I mostly talk them because a) dh kindly bulk bought and they were on a three for two in boots and b) I used to take a daily multivitamin and can't take my normal ones during pregnancy.

My midwife said it's not essential to take them after 12 weeks but maybe have a. Hat with yours and see what they say

I had this with boots own pregnancy tablets, strong metallic taste, added morning sickness, headache, dizziness. I changed to pregnacare and all the symptoms stopped for me. I have read most people feel the other way round but you could always try boots and see if that makes a difference. You can just take the vit D though

Thanks ladies, I've not tried Seven Seas actually so maybe that's one to try. Pregnacare were awful for me too, I will check with my midwife as well xxx

I dodnt get on with pregnacare but am absolutely fine with Asda own brand. Have also had the seven seas with no issue, so might be worth trying one of those brands instead?
