Right, was excited anyway about being pregnant, first baby, 25...
Had an early scan booked for today as had a couple of light bleeds twice after sex over the weekend...
Went in today to discover there are TWO BABIES!!!
We are over the moon, still in shock, no twins in the families at all. But, me being the worrier I am have obviously started looking in to twin pregnancies... This scan couldn't detect what type of twin pregnancy yet, just wondered if anyone out there has any twin pregnancy stories/horror stories? What to expect during pregnancy now that's any different/anything!!
Worried about all the possible problems! I'm sure it will be okay but I am way more nervous now than I was before! Count down until 12 week scan begins eeeek xx

Did you have any inking or feeling it might be twins beforehand?

Congrats! I'm 12 wks with twins and found out at 7 wks. All seems fine so far. I'm surprised that can't tell at 8 weeks, mine were quite spaced out at that stage so v clear. Sure they'll tell you at 12wks though! There's a lot of info on the Tamba site so maybe check that out.

Thank you all of you, no I had absolutely no inkling what so ever. And touch wood no real major symptoms as of yet... Well I'm 7 weeks 5 days it says on the scan pic, gruffalocake2 are your twins identical?/sharing a sac/placenta do you know? The two embryos seem apart in the pic but she just said she couldn't tell, I dont know what to be hoping for! It's so hard to get my head around atm. Xx
I will post the pic...

I have 9 yo twins. It's very hard work in the early days but it's wonderful too. We always felt so sorry for people who only had one baby (they no doubt felt sorry for us too Grin)

Once you are ready to go public, get yourself to your local Twins and Multiples club. You'll want to speak to other twins parents about how or to manage the logistics of two babies (which is one of the hardest things). Clubs are always happy to welcome pregnant women and give advice. The TAMBA website should point you in the direction of your local group.

You may need to think about whether you can fit two rear facing car seats (and a double buggy) in your car. We couldn't and needed to change our car.

I can really recommend a book called "Mothering Multiples" By Karen Kerkhoff Gromada. It's lots of useful advice, particularly around breast feeding.

Just wandering on for a twin mum . It's awesome, I wouldn't have it any other way. My girls are nearly 4, and love each other so much. Proper little buddies. And my life is so much easier than people with singletons because they like doing the same things as each other and play together.

I agree with Persis the first two years are hard but after about 3 yo it evens out and becomes easier than dealing with eg a 3 yo and a 1 yo.

Congratulations!
I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant with non-identical twins (separate sacs and placentas) and found out at the 12 week scan Grin
I suffered terribly with sickness until about 15/16 weeks so fab that you've been ok!

mine are diochorionic so two separate eggs/sacs/placentas. it is hard to see in your pic but I'm sure they'll be able to tell next time!

Congratulations! I have eight year old twins - girls.

As someone said upthread, it's mad in the beginning, but also brilliant - there's something rather magical about twins.

Joining a local twins club is a great idea, it makes you feel a lot more 'normal' being among other multiples, and you'll get lots of good tips. Congrats again - lovely news Flowers

Congratulations! Twins are amazing... bonkers when they're tiny but it all pays off from about 2 onwards. I second finding a twins club. Good luck!

Thank you all
Oh god everyone :(
I've just read the ladies report to give to my doctor/midwife
She thinks it's a suggested monochorionic monoamniotic pregnancy, meaning one sac one placenta, now I'm terrified because the Internet said that ends badly 50% of the time :(
So many worries xx
