Pregnancy

12 weeks and bleeding

12 weeks tomorrow and dating scan booked for Tuesday. Second pregnancy. I started bleeding yesterday morning. It was brown/pink and just on wiping but got a little worse and more red as the day went on. Very little overnight but back again today, red and enough to colour a pad but not heavy like a period - more like a very light period. No pain or cramping. I'm interested if anyone has had bleeding like this and what your outcome was? I'm preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.

I had similar with my son. I bled heavily bright red at 13 weeks.

I had a subchorionic hematoma (sch) which was a harmless pool of blood that had formed in the womb.

All was fine and he is now 2.

Things like cervical erosion can cause a bleed too. Sex, straining on the loo etc can cause irritation to the cervix.

Maybe contact the maternity unit and see if they can see you tomorrow?

Good luck Flowers

I bled for weeks with dd2. Poured out at times with clots the size of chocolate bars.

It was a sub chorionic haematoma

How do you feel generally? First time I had bleeding but it came with a reduction in other pregnancy symptoms- so morning sickness etc halted. Sadly that ended in miscarriage. 2nd time it was around the time my period would have been due I think? Bled loads but still felt rough as fuck a bit grim and DC1 turned 6 today! Hope you have a positive outcome.

Have you had an early scan at any point? This happened to me, and I hadn't had a scan prior to the bleeding. Unfortunately it was a miscarriage - the baby stopped developing at 5 weeks. I don't mean to scare you, lots of women bleed and go on to have successful pregnancies, but I highly recommend contacting your local epu to get checked. Thinking of you. Flowers x

Thanks for all your replies. I'm just waiting for my midwife to get back to me. The bleeding continues, perhaps a little heavier but still no pain. I'm not expecting a good outcome. Will keep you updated x

I hope you have a good outcome. It sound like it's either a miscarriage or missed miscarriage or a SCH. I've had both and know how stressful they can be! X

I had a massive bleed and clots at 11+5. I went to hospital after the epau said to go. They couldn't do anything for me except do a pregnancy test which came back positive Hmm they wouldn't give me a scan because I was having my 12 week scan 2 days later. It was agony waiting for those 2 days. We were resigned to believe we had lost the baby. I was put on bed rest for 3 weeks. Work was arsey but I didn't care.
Baby was OK they thought it was a possible twin as they was a slight dark mark on the scan or a sch it was kind of inconclusive. Had a horrible pregnancy. Dd is now 22 months.
I've had 2 missed miscarriages before Dd. So I've seen both sides.
Really hope everything goes well. Try a stay positive.Flowers

I had a big bleed at 13 weeks, like the first day of a heavy period. Scared me to death and we went onto a&e in the middle of the night where they arranged a scan for the following morning. Everything was fine and the bleeding gradually eased. Ds is 3.5 years now. Hope everything is ok op.

With both mine I had bleeding from about week 6 to week 12 or so. Both babies were ok. If you get a scan and there's a heartbeat then there's a good chance all will be well. You might want to attend your local early pregnancy assessment clinic for a scan tomorrow.

Well it's not good news but that's what I expected. Went for a scan yesterday and the baby had stopped developing at 7 weeks. Sad, but feel ok about it as I think I knew something wasn't right. Thanks for all the messages of support and encouragement xx
