Hiya

Would appreciate your views and opinions on this.
I'm 25 very active and fit have a great diet. I do security for a living and have done for years which unfortunately involves a lot of standing but luckily my employers are very nice and let me take breaks a fair bit etc. However people keep mentioning to me that I'm crazy for working so much I work about 40 hours a week in a shop where it's very low risk and I don't make any shoplifting stops anymore as I'm pregnant. And sometimes when I'm off or "holiday" I work extra events like music gigs and family days out.
Yes my feet ache sometimes but I don't feel un well from it. I'll have to stop in the next month or two because I am getting rather large haha but has anyone else worked this much standing up and been fine ? My first baby and people are starting to freak
Me out

Thanks so much for reading xx

My first pregnacy was with twins and I worked in a shop standing 8-10 hours a day plus walking regularly between 2 stores in the run up to christmas. No issues with pregnacy at all, I was allowed a chair when needed and breaks if was struggling. If your happy and feel OK doing it then carry on you'll know when things are too much.

@Abstardust thanks so much for
Replying ! That's what I thought that my body will know when it's too much but so many people have mentioned it and mostly women! I've started to worrying and of course don't want to deliver baby prematurely. I really enjoy my work especially the music gigs so don't want to give it all up just yet xxx

Just listen to your body and make sure your not in harms way eg surging crowds. I wouldn't have done it but then I was exhausted all pregnancy, and I'd want to check you were ok if you were my friend not doing it because you were worried about losing your job but you have to trust yourself. From now on, everyone has an opinion on everything you do with the baby x

I don't think there's such a thing, it's what you feel comfortable with. I worked 45-50 hours a week until 33 weeks as a restaurant manager. I sat down when I could but guests don't really understand why they have to wait for things most of the time ;) I was working in the busy kitchen right up until I took maternity leave. I just took my holiday entitlement and left as early as possible.

I should add I didn't really get breaks and I was working nights until about 25 weeks when I cut down to just days instead. People constantly told me to stop lifting things, stop working near fryers, stop climbing a step on the ladder etc. It's entirely what you feel is best so just block them out!

Nursery nurse here. 9 hour shifts with up to 40 two year olds and spent all day up and down and up and down.

It was hard physically but work were great about rests and putting in safe ways of lifting etc especially when I got SPD.

I got signed off for a fortnight at about 25 weeks but then carried on working until 36 weeks (DD came 3 days into mat leave).

I don't think there's a real set of rules to follow other than to listen to your body.

Oh and as PP said, everyone will have an opinion from now on.

You'll know yourself when it's too much. Sounds fine to me!

My previous 2 pregnancies I worked up to the end in a very stressful and manual job.

This time I'm geriatric older and had to stop work at 31 weeks as I just couldn't cope.

As long as you're ok and not over exerting yourself then work til you want! You know your own body and its sod all to do with anyone else Smile

Like people have said; you know your body. I'm pregnant with my first baby and work as a Physio so a pretty varied and physical job. I've got 3 weeks left as working up till 37 weeks full time (37.5 hours) and seem to be hanging in there ok. I think it's been broken up nicely my midwife appointments and parent craft classes start this week. Sounds like you're doing great x

I worked on a very busy mental Heath ward until 37 weeks pregnant. If you feel ok then do as you please.

Just listen to your body. I currently work 14 hour days riding 7 plus horses and on my feet teaching clients. If I am not riding or teaching I am judging or training.

Last week I didn't get home until 10pm for three nights after 7am starts but I feel fine and will continue as long as I do.

I was doing a 45 hour week in an office with a long commute up until 35 weeks.

by 33 weeks i knew I had had enough.

I am glad I didnt carry on any longer than I did. No idea how hard it must be being heavily pregnant and on your feet all day.

I need a sit down just from walking from one end of my house to the other
