Swollen feet

think I just need a little reassurance! 28 weeks pregnant (29 on tues) with really swollen feet! I just seen the midwife on wednesday and my blood pressure and urine were both fine, but still can't help but worrying Sad not accompanied with headaches/vision problems and my hands aren't really swollen either, just feel a little tight sometimes, but today when I pressed into the skin on my feet and it was sank in and slowly came back out (pitted is the word for it I think) I've been busy for the past few days, not really had much chance to put them up, soak them or anything and it has been quite warm where I am.

You need to make sure you're drinking plenty.

I've had swollen ankles on hols this week, at 32 weeks, on the days when I've not moved about so much, and it was pretty warm

I've been the same with swollen feet, even had to buy bigger sized shoes to fit!

I had numerous phone called to the maternity hospital & saw my midwife a couple of extra times to be checked out, but they just said it's one of those things.

As long as your blood pressure is ok & you haven't been getting headaches, I think all is well.

But I was like you, worrying about it. When possible, have your feet elevated. Get your partner to massage the tops of your feet, moving towards your heart & drink plenty of water. Also maybe change what you wear. I swapped jeans for skirts & that's helped.

Mine have also been less swollen since I finished work x

Sounds like you just have normal pregnancy swelling. If bp and urine are normal and you don't have any other pre eclampsia symptoms it's usually just normal pregnancy fluid retention.

thank you! it's the sudden appearance of the pitting oedema that made me worried, it's like my feet are made out of memory foam Envy I probably don't drink as much as I'm supposed to!

Mine have been hugely swollen since about 20 weeks, just as they were in my last pregnancy. Pitting oedema, the lot. They are hideous to look at. Big swollen things with little cocktail sausages for toes. However despite having been monitored a little more closely for pre eclampsia, including a blood test at one point, it seems to be just one of those things. I am just hoping they will go down quickly once the baby is here.

Interesting about the comments on drinking enough. I definitely dont drink enough water so maybe that could be the reason.

Either way while it is annoying, provided your BP is ok and you have no other symptoms I would try not to worry about it

drinking more water does seem to help, they've noticeably went down and don't feel so tight, but all the water comes with a different problem Grin I'm up every single hour at night to pee!!
