Horrible cough - any suggestions?!

I've had an awful sore throat all week and the last couple of days it's turned into a horrible dry tickly cough.

Being 12 weeks pregnant, there isn't a right lot I can take. I'm doing the usual honey & lemon, linctus and trying to rest it, but is there anything else I can try?! And miracle cure?!

I've been coughing so much the last couple of days my (already buggered) stomach muscles are in agony as are my ribs, and every time I get into a bit of a coughing fit, in sick too!

If it's quite dry I'd try to moistened your lungs with inhaling some menthol and eucalyptus in boiling water.
Also pure fresh pineapple is like a miracle cough cure - eat a whole pineapple every morning (or more if you can), or blend - it's got high levels of vitamin c :)

This was me on Thursday. Turns out I had got over the viral thing but then had developed a bad secondary chest infextion that needed antibiotics. I only went after I collapsed as thought I was being silly.

I was exhausted and sleeping most of the days and the cough wasn't getting better and I had got back ache with it too and shortness of breath all the time and high hr and fevery cold with the aches.

By time I got to dr it was very bad and in both lungs and she said I should have come sooner. Please go to be sure.. NHS website says to if you are pregnant as much more susceptible..

Ah I should have said I had had the viral thing start 2 weeks before! Just never got better! Lots and lots of rest and keep hydrated as you can ... easier said than done when vomiting !

Go to the GP on Monday, I had this and it was a bad chest infection. Your immunity is lower during pregnancy so it's more likely. Look after yourself.

This sounds minging but I know someone who males a concotion out of raw white onion and honey. You mix it up and stir every so often. The onion releases liquid. The longer you let it 'stew', the better. Then you just drink a spoon or two of the liquid. Apparently works wonders!

No tips for the cough but from the experience of having a cough at around 7 months pregnant: pelvic floor exersises! Whenever you cough use it as a reminder to do some pelvic floors.

Ah yes @jobrum - that pesky pelvic floor.... sat on the loo (luckily) having the worst coughing fit, needed to be sick - cough, sick and wee all at the same time - my body just couldn't deal with all 3 🙈
