Pregnancy

Polyhydramnios and big baby

Hi,

I'm 36 weeks and have had monitoring throughout this pregnancy as my DD (2) was growth restricted from 20wks (3rd centile) and I had very little fluid. This time I have a big baby (above 95th centile!) and last scan at 34 wks showed above normal fluid levels. Had GTT and viral screen and all fine. In the last few days I don't know whether baby has had a growth spurt or whether fluid has increased but I'm massive, puffy and doing anything is very painful, I'm having an ELCS, does anybody have any experience of whether they would do this any earlier than due date or is it likely I'll have to weeble around for the next 4 weeks?! Another scan next week but i don't want to get my hopes up that they'll bring my cs date forward!?

Hi polka, I had polyhydramnios, in my case caused by a blockage in baby's bowel. I was told they wouldn't bring C-section date forward, but that the polyhydramnios massively increased the chances of going into labour early, which in fact I did...! I had no problem getting the C-section, but technically it became an EMCS.

Hi there, I'm 36 weeks also and getting induced next week but I also have GD as well as polyhydramnios and macrosomnia. My advice is just to ask the consultant at your next appointment if they can book you in sooner rather than later due to the stress of worrying about complications Flowers

Thanks for replying :) I was in on Monday for movement monitoring and back for a scan later today. Still feeling movements but decreased (wondering if it's down to lack of room?) so will voice my concerns. Hopefully will feel reassured if everything looks fine. Time is going so slowly!

Funny a couple of weeks ago I felt far less movement and my deepest pool was 13cm. The consultant thought the fluid was muffling the movements. I have felt much more this last 5 days and my deepest pool yesterday was down to 10cm. It's very frustrating isn't it!! Good luck at your scan
