Pregnancy

Just got my BFP, worries!

Hello :)

I got my BFP on Monday on a frer test at 12DPO and 3 days from AF. Since then I've had a positive digital (Pregnant 1-2 weeks) at 13DPO and continued to test on cheapies each day and seen the line getting darker and stronger. Should I continue to do this to monitor?

My last AF was 1st April so this pregnancy would be dated at 4weeks 4 days already.

I'm absolutely petrified I'll have a chemical pregnancy (I had one back in March) and have booked a Dr's appointment but the earliest they can see me is 26th May. Will this be ok? I would be 7 weeks by then.

You have a bfp!!
Congratulations. .
Now stop testing. .
It can't stop anything going wrong - but giving yourself stress isn't helpful either.
Take a deep breath and enjoy!!
(as someone who has had 3 chemicals and a mc in the past 18 months)

Thank you flapjacks

I'm kind of just using up my cheapie tests, only 5 left now.

Not telling anyone is killing me as well!

I did this. Kept our local chemist in business for those first few weeks Blush
I know it's hard, but put the stick down! Keep telling yourself you are pregnant today, and try to enjoy it!
7 weeks is fine to see your GP, I saw mine at 6 and he just checked I was taking supplements, and told me to self refer to the midwife. Didn't see her until 10 weeks for booking in, all felt very surreal being pregnant but not having any medical professionals involved, I felt like it was all in my head!

Ha yes, thats exactly it Snack I feel like I should be seeing someone sooner than that for such a big change in my body!

I have PCOS, do you think they'll offer me an early scan?

I have PCOS too, and previous MC, but I didn't get an early scan Sad Might be different where you are though, can't hurt to ask!

Ok! I think I'll ask. If not maybe go private, I need to stop worrying!

We're due date buddies btw!

I'm 5weeks 4days today and I keep doing tests to put my mind at rest. This is my second pregnancy and never mc before... I just worry it will happen this time! I'm not seeing the midwife til may 31st as my partner wants to come. It just seems so long away !!

@owltrousers I calculate that I'm 4 weeks 4 days also! My doctors appointment is next week on the 9th May, I was surprised I got one soon. Feel like it's gonna feel like a realllly long pregnancy as I'm so worried already as it's my first, keep thinking the worst! Don't know what's normal and what's not. Have you felt any symptoms or anything yet? Xx

owltrousers · 05/05/2017 07:44

hi Hannah ! twinsies!

Yeah I feel the same, like I'm nothing every feeling and twinge of pain but at the end of the day all you can do is your best. Worrying too much isn't good so I'm trying to stay chilled a bit. I've now stopped doing tests as well.

Symptoms wise I've had quite a few, I knew all the way through that I was pregnant - just had a feeling! At the moment it's mainly masses of bloating and occasional pressure - my tummy feels huge even tho it's not. My boobs are sore also but I'm a 32G normally so I tend to get that a lot usually.

I've been emotional but also really happy like I'm walking on air this whole week Smile I usually suffer with a lot of anxiety and that has totally washed away for the time being.

How aboutyou, what are you feeling? Will you find out the gender or have a surprise do you think?

@owltrousers yes twinsies!☺️ yeah I'm worrying about every little thing, last night I was getting quite bad period like cramping and immediately thought the worst. But I guess that's normal, have you felt period like symptoms?

I have had so much bloating too, cramping, gas, sore boobs! I think I knew straight away as well, I was doing tests everyday way too early and because they were all negatives I started to think I wasn't and thought I'd just wait for my period as it was due over a week away. Then on Tuesday I was like I'm definitely late and got my BFP!

I couldn't be more happy but also couldn't be more scared. I just can't wait for my Dr's appointment i think I'll feel better then, you're probably the same! I suffer with anxiety, I normally take medication for it but even that I'm scared to take in case it effects the baby?! I will have to check it out.

I don't think we're gonna find out the gender, are you?? I say this now but I might feel different later! I think I like the thought of the big surprise but then at the same time I do like to plan everything in advance!! Xx

@Hannahd1991

All sounds soo similar! Yes, my AF was originally due on Tuesday so around then when I started getting cramps I was worried but they seem to come and go and seem worse after I've eaten (maybe because there is less room in there?) they have eased up now though, just a constant sort of pressurey dull ache.

Yes, I am super happy and DH is over the moon but its like we're too scared to properly celebrate it yet, we're gonna wait for the scan and then tell everyone - the wait is killing me though.

Were you TTC for long? I have PCOS and a history of infertility in my family so was told in no uncertain terms not to hang about - I'm 30 now so we decided to stop being careful but never expected it to happen this quickly!

I'm totally going to keep the gender a surprise, I think that'll be more fun and something to speculate over - plus I don't want anyone to give us blue for a boy and pink for a girl type stuff, I'd rather it was all gender neutral :)

@owltrousers yes that's exactly what I'm getting, a pressurey dull ache! I also can't stop eating! I'm trying to be super healthy though as I just want all the bad foods!!

Ahhh that's so lovely that it happened quickly for you, it's amazing when everything runs smoothly isn't it.

The issue we have about not telling people is that we have several big family birthday nights out and meals planned every weekend for the next month! We have no idea how we're going to hide it as I'm normally first on the prosecco!Hmm I'll have to come up with some good excuses!

Well, I was on the mini pill up until around 3 months ago and I didn't like it so came off it and then we started using protection. Honestly, the first try without protection was the week after my last period! I can't believe it, we genuinely thought it would take a good few months but we couldn't be happier, I feel so lucky and you're probably the same. I haven't had infertility problems but a lot of women in my family have and it took them a good few years to get preg so I was sort of expecting the same - I just knew I wanted to get pregnant in the next 12 months! I want to tell the world! I've told my mum and that's it, I just blurted it out I couldn't help myself. She is over the moon and funnily enough she said she thought I was because I've put a bit of weight on. I was like Mum, that's just fat, I'm only 4 weeks!Hmm

And same, I think the surprise of the gender at the time of birth would just be amazing. My other half wants to find out though, but I'm not letting him!! He will slip up!!

So happy for you, we will have to keep each other updated! X

If you go for a private scan, try and hang out till 7-8 weeks. You'll have more chance of seeing a heartbeat then, and risk of mc drops dramatically once a heartbeat is detected.

If you're dates are out by a few days and you go too early, you'll likely just see a yolk sac.

owltrousers · 05/05/2017 10:16

Thank you lemon good advice! My docs appointment isn't until 7 weeks so I doubt I'll do anything until after then. I might try for a private scan at 10 weeks just to put my mind at ease.

We haven't told anyone at all yet and I'm dying to! The weirdest thing is some old lady at work asked me if I was pregnant 2 days ago - the exact day I got my BFP, it was so strange! I denied it of course.

I know what you mean though @Hannahd1991 I have SO many family events coming up and like you, I am always up for way too much prosecco usually, maybe I'll fake a kidney infection or something haha. OH and we were supposed to be going to download festival in June as well, oops!

@owltrousers oh same, we had to cancel our Glastonbury tickets yesterday - the deadline to cancel is today so we just done it!

I keep getting a twingy lower left abdominal pain like where my ovary is. Do you think this is normal? Xx

@HannahD1991

I'm getting that too, on both sides. Not sure why - I think you've just got to put it down to a whole bunch of changes going on in there.

Today I took my dog for her normal 1 hour walk and by 30 mins I was flagging badly, was half asleep on the way home! Also been having pulling behind my belly button, like its sore but its not? V strange.

Me and my husband sat down last night and made a big list of all the immediate baby things we'll need. Its a BIG list but actually not as bad as I thought. at one point DH said 'We need a sling so I can take the baby out for a wander' Grin

@owltrousers that's true, our bodies are completely changing aren't they. I have had similar pains though, like a niggly feeling behind my belly button, but I'm sort of focusing on every little twinge and I need to just relax!

I was the same today, I've been off work for a couple weeks and all I've done is sleep! God help me next week 😫 I'm thinking I need to get into some sort of exercise routine - I might start walking every evening.

A sling - that's so sweet!! I was looking at prams online earlier, I feel it's too soon but I can't help myself! Me and my partner def need to get a list together, we have so much to do. We are also currently very comfortably living at my parents house, so we need to get house hunting ASAP, i sense this is going to be stressful!!

Xx

Oh wow yeah house hunting can be stressful! are you renting or buying?

The day I got my BFP our landlord said the rent was going up £65 a month! we already spend over half our wages on rent so we were so stressed out! Luckily I managed to convince him to keep the rent the same for another 18 months somehow! it's a big weight off!

Drinking non alcoholic beer tonight!

@owltrousers buying, just don't wanna buy something we're not 100% on just because we need to quickly Sad

That's good that the landlord kept the price the same, last thing you need is to be paying more on rent when there's so much you need to buy.

I've never had non alcohol beer, I've just been sticking to lemonade and ice Hmmhow have your hormones been btw? All day today I have been emotional, raging and defensive about everything. Like PMSx a hundred 😫 xx

Oh wow, I wish we could buy. Sadly we're paupers with bad credit history haha.

Feeling ok actually, I have mainly just felt quite happy and contented which is strange for me as usually I'm a worrier. I've been a bit emotional tho, crying at tv and over silly things... like my DH said my name was 'common' and I got all upset and started crying for some reason Blush haha.

We've been thinking of announcement ideas today, its so hard to know who to tell first - both sets of parents would want to know first except they live on opposite sides of the country.

@owltrousers not sure what the hopes of us buying are to be honest, found out today my credit score is awful, just when I felt like I'm getting on track with my finances! Oh well, I have no issues with renting but my other half has his heart set on it. Don't know what we're going to do now!

I had to call the bank earlier and the woman was really abrupt and I slammed the phone down and started crying 🙈 hormones must be all over the place!!!

Ahh yeah I know what you mean - when are you thinking of telling them? I've told my mum but we need to tell his parents now - was thinking of getting this as an announcement what you think?!🙈🙈 he wants to tell his parents asap because my parents know but I feel at 6 weeks it would be too soon wouldn't it? X

Aw that's really cute! it's a good idea. We were thinking of something kinda similar except mugs with the announcement in the bottom so we can ask them over for a cup of tea and then they get the message in the bottom of the empty cup?! I thought it could be cute.

We're going to wait until 10-12 weeks to tell our parents I think, just in case.

Lots of dull aches today, got me a bit worried but they seem to be going away now I've eaten... V strange.

Btw renting isn't so bad, you could rent while baby was little and then be ready to buy by the time he/she is walking maybe! Smile
