How would your news ruin a hen do?

It's happy news. It'll make her happy, surely?

Say you have tonsillitis/infection of some description and are on antibiotics so can't drink and enjoy swimming in the pool and having sober fun x

Freeniki I have thought of that but there is a few nurses on said hen do so I don't want to get caught out.
I was thinking water infection?

Kidney infection.

It'll get taken more seriously than a UTI.

Tell them if you mix alcohol with them it'll make you puke.

Motherofdragons I'm hoping people will just take my water infection tale and that will be the end of it. Hoping morning sickness doesn't appear while I'm away I've not had any do far x

Buy your own drinks, vodka and tonic but no vodka in. Just make it look like your drinking. Say your on antibiotic so have to take it easy

Have 1 or 2 and sip then a very long time. No one will notice if you have.m a drink in your hand
Also do the drinks trips and order soft drinks and pretend there is something else. Odds on the rest still be too drunk to notice and if someone does hopefully they understand not to ask

You have a very painful mouth ulcer and are on metronidazole 400mg three times a day for a week! I'm a Pharmacist, it's the only antibiotic that you really can't drink while taking!!! go with that one!!!

I also had it for a vaginal infection 😕 (post birth) but I'd stick to the mouth ulcer reason 😜

Could you pretend you're on a tedious fad diet and have a bonkers list of foods to avoid which happens to include alcohol?

clumsyduck · 28/04/2017 22:56

I took an antibiotic once for a gum
Infection ( sorry gross ) had a problem with a wisdom tooth and the open gum got infected . The antibiotics were strictly no alcohol as could be dangerous . So Google which antibiotics they might be and say your on them for a tooth related problem ! Remember to wince in pain every now and then though !!

OMG, do people get antibiotics for mouth ulcers?

How bad can they get, then?

My granny used to tell me to rub salt on them.

Hope you have a great time!!! And don't get any morning sickness!!!

Yes joffrey, like a big abcess, size of a penny, full of pus etc.
She wasn't far wrong about the salt though it's great as an antiseptic, though maybe very sore to rub it straight on!!

Natalia maybe go with clumsy ducks dental procedure gone wrong scenario!!

Great minds clumsy duck!!!

Personally I would tell one person on the hen - whoever you're closest to and you think would be helpful / discreet. That way you get someone to help you cover without stealing the bride's thunder or divulging the pregnancy before you're ready. Congratulations Smile

I went abroad on a hen do in the early stages - morning sickness/nausea = hangover.

I only told the ones sharing my room and they very courageously drank any shots handed to me (which I handed over as everyone did the head-flick-shots-down movement).

Apparently I seem wrecked when I dance sober.

My partner thinks I'm worrying about nothing and to just go with the flow.
I think I shall go with the tooth pain one. Least then it may hide some tiredness too. I can deal with the morning sickness call it Spanish tummy!
Wish me luck Blush

I had this and was rumbled by the time we left the airport- other hens were gracious enough not to ask though and waited til the wedding for official announcement and scan pic.

Be prepared for them to guess and hope your hens will be as polite. Enjoy and congrats.

Could you just not say anything and pretend you are drinking? Always be the one going to the bar? Admittedly I'd struggle to pull that one off but thought I'd suggest it anyway.
