Pregnancy

Am I losing my mind.

Hi everyone. I feel like I'm losing the plot a bit. My GP will not accept the fact that I am pregnant. I have done 10+ tests at home. Most of them digital and they're all BFP. My GP did a test today and told me there was no second line and there for I am not pregnant. I've attached the test he did and there is deffo a second line. I swear I'm going crazy. I'm at a loss.

Am I losing my mind.

Was that line there within the time frame?

Definitely looks like a positive to me.

Why did your gp do a test? Mine took my word for it!

I'd see if you can self refer to a local hospital that has a maternity unit. I went through my gp but wish I had self referred to my local hospital. There's definitely a second line there

Fuzzywuzzy, the line was there after around a minute. He waited all of 10 seconds to tell me it was negative. I went to the GP because I have been getting quite bad tummy pains.

Definitely pregnant according to that test. In many places you don't see the GP. You just ask to book an appointment with the midwife.

I have never been asked to take a test. They have always just assumed that my home testing was accurate.

Yes there's definitely a second line. I'd ask to see a different GP at the practice and take one of the positive digital tests with you. Although my GP took my word for it too. It's very unusual to not believe you. If the pain is severe I would go to a&e/early pregnancy unit to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. Although mild period stretching pains are normal. Congrats on your pregnancy Smile

Your gp needs glasses, firstly is refer him to spec savers & secondly, see a new gp.

It's definitely positive!

Just ignore. I don't know about your surgery but with all my pregnancy's I've just asked to book with m.w about 8 weeks. Never involved a g.p

I never went to the GP. I had to call to my nearest hospital and self refer to MAU. They then allocated a community MF and had to wait for an appointment which was at 10+5 weeks.
Haven't even seen my GP since I got pregnant. I'm now 37+5.

I'd just ignore him completely, if you need a GP's approval before you can book in with midwife (as I know some areas, like mine, need this) then I would book in with another GP and ask for a blood test to get pregnancy verified.

See Q diff GP he's stupid. Your pregnant

Just ring the surgery and ask for the number of the community midwife. It's nothing to do with your incompetent GP

Thanks for all your responses. In my area you have to be referred to a community midwife through your GP. The probs is the pain I'm having. I don't recall having pain like this with my son.

I had this argument with my GP as she was convinced the line had to be as dark to be positive. A lovely practice nurse put her straight!

Re the pain call the Early Pregnancy Unit at the hospital, you don't need to have been booked by a midwife.

My god, what is the healthcare system coming to when a GP can't even read a basic pregnancy test. No faith in the system at all

I have an appointment with a female GP at 10 past 3. I spoke to her on the phone and she said a line, regardless of how faint is a positive. Hopefully I will get a bit more help today.

The midwife insisted on waiting three minutes before letting me go when I had to have a pregnancy test done at the EPAU.

I kept going no not pregnant and she insisted I waited till the three minutes were up, & she was right.

You're pregnant according to that test. Good luck with your second GP appt.

Good luck at the appointment, hopefully the pain is nothing to worry about.

Are you ok Hannano? Hope GP was helpful and pains are not serious.

Pretty horrendous to be honest. Walked in and signed in on the system and saw it was with the same Dr I saw yesterday. I through a pretty stupid tantrum about it (definitely hormonal) but my husband was quite supportive. He explained the the receptionist that it was meant to be with someone else and we didn't want to see this particular GP. They arranged for me to go into clinic tomorrow morning with the head GP. Fingers crossed for me.

I went to the out of hours on Monday. They said I wasn't pregnant and sent me home with codeine and told me to see my GP. I'm going stir crazy over here and I don't know what to do. I will see what doctor says tomorrow.
I've seriously had enough already. This whole situation is really getting me down and this is now how I should be feeling.
