Reason for cancelled travel plans during first trimester

Me and my partner were due to travel to Bali on Sunday but can no longer go as I've found out I'm pregnant and there is a threat of Zika virus. I struggling to think of a reason to tell people why we are no longer going to Bali without telling I am pregnant.

Has anyone else been in this situation, do you have any ideas?

Thank you in advance for your help

You could say that you have just found out the hotel you were staying at is going to be undergoing renovations and the travel agent offered the opportunity to go elsewhere or cancel...suppose this is more believable if you go somewhere else instead

I had to cancel a work trip at 5 weeks as it was in a malaria zone. I told my line manager but the rest of the team was told I'd fallen ill and I didn't give details. Just say one of you has come down with something and stay away from friends for a few days.

Could you stick with the Zika line and hint that you're trying for a baby? Perhaps say that you've realised you'd have to wait 6 months post trip before trying to conceive and have decided to plan a trip elsewhere in meantime?

Or...you've just realised that one of your passports will expire while you're away so you can't go...

I'd use the hotel renovations one unless you don't mind dropping a hint about TTC with zika.
