Is it boring I'm enjoying not drinking?

I haven't been a big drinker for a few years now before PG. I would possibly maybe have 3-4 fruit ciders or Coronas out or split a bottle of wine with DH at the weekend.

Ever since PG I really enjoy not drinking. I'm considering continuing this once I have had the baby.

Has anyone else given up drinking after having kids?

Not alone! I loved a drink, would often go through 2 bottles of wine over a week. Since i found Out, I've not even fancied a drink, or even thought about it. Not like me at all, but then again I'm only 5 weeks Grin

It's not boring to not drink. I haven't bothered with it for years now. Just not felt the need. I am going out for a meal with friends, for the first time in over a year. I may have 1 then but def no more as I wouldn't enjoy it. Do what makes you happy. 😊

I felt the same with DS1. I just went off it. Got myself a nice bottle of red to have post birth and didn't drink some of it till he was 3 months old. However, as soon as I stopped breastfeeding at 7 months I soon enjoyed a few drinks again!! Not excessive but wine with dinner, few beers at a party. I think its just you go off it like you do some foods when your preggo

My DD is 14 months now and I have had two glasses of wine since she was born (and none during the pregnancy). Can't say I miss it. DP has had 4/5 beers since DD's birth, he's equally happy not drinking.

It's not boring to not want to drink alcohol!

I enjoyed the smug feelings over Christmas knowing I wouldn't be hungover. I will go back to modest drinking after breastfeeding and when the baby sleeps.

I know what you mean, OP. I'm not bothered about drinking, and I don't mind being designated driver, as I prefer having the car with me to avoid the palaver of taxis (getting old). Earlier on, I thought I fancied a gin (and I LOVE gin), but I wasn't arsed getting off the couch to get it! Oh, I'm not pregnant, btw...

I used to like a good drink on a night out or a bottle of wine with dinner on a Saturday and / or Sunday. With DS I didn't drink for 3 months after he was born, including over Christmas & new year. I just didn't fancy it & couldn't face the thought of broken sleep with the nightfeeds & a hangover. He's now 2.5 and I can count on one hand the number of times I've been drunk since. I've had the odd glass of wine here & there too but much prefer to drive now, I live out in the sticks so much cheaper to drive as well. Pregnant again now & likely to be a good three months or so before I have a drink this time too.

So, having children has all made sensible!😱

I think it definitely makes me question if I was having a glass of wine just as habit or because I actually wanted it- I'm not a big drinker. That said, I've been diagnosed with a condition (unrelated to pregnancy) that means alcohol is a once every two month treat so it's probably helped me adjust to that lifestyle.

I don't drink much alcohol (am not pregnant). I don't think it makes me boring so I'm sure you're not

I get really anxious in social situations where I'm meeting new people or talking in front a large group of people. I always thought alcohol gave me confidence ... oh boy was I wrong. I feel like I have more confidence sober Smile
