Anti-anxiety medication when Pregnant

Hello,

Prior to becoming pregnant I wasn't on Duloxotine and Quetiapine to help me with my extreme anxiety which boreders psychosis.

When I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking both as they can harm baby but now I'm 26 weeks and really struggling.

Back in September I was a victim of sexual assault nd lately I have been having a lot of sudden and extreme flash backs to it.

I've been to see my GP and I'm under the mental health midwife team too but I've been told that I should stay away from any medication to treat my condition as all can harm baby in the third trimester.

I've made contact with a sexual assault group to help me deal with that but it's my anxiety that I already have that also starting to cripple my normal behaviour.

Can anyone else offer anything I can do or any medication I could suggest to my GP? I feel like an utter failure not being able to go through my pregnancy without wanting medication to help but it's the only thing I've found to work previous (well those two pill I took previously anyway).

Luckily I do have a supportive partner who is here for me but I hate how much he has to see me tear myself apart over my anxiety.

Thank you

Xx

Sorry to hear what happened to you. Flowers
My GP changed my prescription to serartline (Probably not spelt like that) it is regarded as fine during pregnancy and for breast feeding. Have you been offered any counselling? Could that be beneficial?

I've tried Seratine prior to my previous medication and unfortunately I found it didn't help me. Counselling would be just over six months on the waiting list :(

Please try a higher dose of sertraline I'm the same as you anxiety ocd and depression borderline phycosis due to all of them.

I am being weaned of my quietapine currently and dose of 100mg of sertraline they are keeping me steady I was also abused so can relate about flashbacks ...

when it happens pinch yourself and count down from 30 Do not get up and walk around it feeds the anxiety tell yourself you are in control and it will get better.

I'm sorry your struggling I know how utterly soul destroying the illness is your doing great xxx

I'm 25 wks and taking low dose sertraline, which all health care professionals I've seen have been more than happy with, and I'm very happy with, so please go and speak to someone with a view to getting this as it is very low risk during pregnancy.

Ask about the option of imipramine. I'm on that as have bad prenatal depression and it helps- was done by the consultant.

Sertraline is the only one you can take when pregnant/BF. I hope you manage to sort something

Hi there, I've taken Fluoxetine (Prozac) through two pregnancies - it worked wonders! Maybe ask about this one?
