Early Scans: What did you see? (8+4)

I have booked in for a early scan at the weekend. The last tho weeks have come directly from hell and I've completely lost my pregnant feeling so really just want to check in on the bean. What did you see around 8-9 weeks? What can i expect? Its a private scan at a ABC4D clinic in UK. Thanks xx

I'm not sure exactly what you want to hear, but I'm in the US and the norm (where I live anyway) is your first scan at around 8 weeks. I've never had one at 12 weeks so I don't know how they compare.

For me this was internal. Could see a vaguely baby shaped blob with a heartbeat. Sonographer did various measurements and gave a due date. Pointed out things like arm buds and heart. The photo that I have looks pretty similar to what I've seen other people's 12 week scan photos look like.

I just want to know experiences of others.

I'm booked for a abdominal scan. I had one at 5 weeks which showed yolk sac etc. Hoping to see a heartbeat this time x

You should see a heart beat at 8 weeks! Mine was a vaguely baby shaped blob with a yolk sac and measused 1.68cm with a flickering heart beat. I hope it goes well!

I booked an early 8 week external scan with Babybond, uk. Could see baby and yolk sac, although it doesn't look much like a baby! There was also an obvious flickering heartbeat. Good luck!

Mine was a little earlier, 7+something (and nhs) and all we could see was a little white blob. No heartbeat. So I was in for a surprise by the 12 week when he had come along so beautifully!

I had an 8 week scan due to bleeding. He looked like an alien.

Oh, forgot to say that this was abdominal

Our private scan was very similar to nicecuppa. It was abdominal. I'm sure we were told baby was just under 2cm so rather like a kidney bean. He twitched around a bit and dd(2.5 then) said he was waving.
We definitely heard the heart but can't recall whether it was seen...

I had one at my EPU at 7+4 and we saw a heartbeat. Everything else was present and measuring what it should be. Good luck.

Little bean with a heartbeat! I was surprised to see the heartbeat at 8 weeks because I thought you had to be further along but it's well worth putting your mind at ease!

I had one at 6+6 and could see a tiny little flicker of the heartbeat and the sonographer played it out loud. It was a tiny little blob and couldn't really make out much else - definitely developed a lot by 12 weeks!

I had one at 8+2 and it basically looked like a prawn/jellybean/alien Grin Had a tiny flickering dot for the heartbeat though which was pretty amazing to see.

Hi DarcyParty,
Just popping on to say that we have removed your scan image because we could see your name and details, so it was really a bit too identifying. Of course do post again, just cropping those bits out. Lovely scan photo, nothing better than seeing a wee heartbeat. Flowers

That was my 8 week one (hid name not arsed about area showing mnhq) I ended up having to have an internal one done as well but that could be down to past issues.

Will keep my fingers crossed for you 🍀
