I have a teenager and a 15 month old.... I will now have a nb by the time 15 month old is 22 months. Panicking a little bit, even though this was the plan...

Calm me down/give me advice? Any life saving things out there? Do I NEED a double buggy??

My 2 dc are 11 months apart and the first few weeks were manic but it did settle down fairly quick and 2nd dc just slotted in to the routine we had with dc1. They are now 19 months & 8 months and are so cute together.

You will be fine 💐

I did, 21 months between. It was fine, but yes i did have a double buggy. Not so much for in town as a single with a buggy board worked ok, but for longer walks, walking the dog etc.

You will be ok Smile. Mine are older now and close, although they bicker constantly. They've never known life without the other which I think is lovely.

I didn't have a double buggy. I mostly had DS2 in a sling but DS1 was already happy to walk for about a mile at 20m. I didn't find it particularly challenging having 2 close together but DS1 was pretty independent & entertained himself a lot!

13 months between mine - a double buggy came in very useful as I did a lot of walking. Congratulations - you'll be fine!

Top tip: put a moses basket in a travel cot downstairs, so DC2 can sleep unassaulted by DC1 but still within earahot Grin

18 month gap. Totally fine. I found first child far far far harder than 2 under 2. In fact watching friends, I think under 2 year gap is easier than a 2.5-4 year gap. My eldest was still in nappies, having naps etc when baby was born so they naturally assumed a similar routine.

18 month gap here. It's fine! There are moments where I feel I'm losing my mind but that's where the double buggy and a long walk comes in handy...

PS I have a double buggy and use it a lot. But also have a single with buggy board that I use for shorter walks. Depends how much walking you do, I suppose.

Rope the teenager in to help! Grin

Teenager = instant babysitter? Well planned, you.

I had the 2 under 2 without an adult size spare person in house. I bet you'll be fine.

ps: loved my double buggy. Used it until eldest was 5!

You'll be fine! It's a lot of fun once you get past the first few months. I have 11 months between my first 2 & a double buggy came in VERY handy! We certainly got the use out of it. 3 & 4 were close in age too. Expecting no. 6 now & we're still using it. It's a Phil & Ted's one, so they go one in front & one behind, rather than side by side (I had visions of never being able to manoeuvre through shop doors with a side by side one!) 🙄 Good luck.

I have the exact same gap. DD1 was slow to start walking so we bought a double buggy the moment we found out I was expecting DD2. By the time she was born, DD1 was a great walker and refused to use the buggy - wait and see would be my advice.

I have a 16 month gap between my boys, I felt exactly the same! Like the others said, the new baby will slot in to the routine in no time. I felt I had a better routine with two than I did with one! Mine are 7 and 6 now and are like best friends (a few arguments of a day!). Enjoy watching them grow up together Smile

You'll be fine! I had 2 under 2 (14 minth gap) then 3 under 3 (for a month & 2 days). It was fairly easy to get on with things/rest as dc1 still needed baps for a good 9 months after dc2 was born (although I appreciate this isn't the case for every little one). Come August I'll have 5 age 7 & under. As long as they're fed, clean & have some cuddles & play time for the first few weeks it'll all work itself out!

If you aren't buying a double buggy, I would use a sling if possible for the Nb for the first while and put the two year old in the buggy so they can't bolt. At the very least, I would have a harness for the toddler if you are letting them walk around. When the toddler gets older you can put the baby in the buggy and use a buggy board for the toddler.

I actually didn't get a double buggy. I couldn't afford it tbh.

I had an Ergo sling and that worked fine pushing the older ones buggy.

Then when the baby was 6 months + , I got a buggy board for the pram.

I planned to use a sling for the little one but he was not so little... so yep get a double buggy is my advice.

Also teach your toddler to be as independent as possible now, things like going up stairs unassisted.

I found going from zero to one harder than looking after the two. You're still in baby mode, you're used to nappies and bottles. It'll be fine. X

I got my double buggy on Ebay for 150 quid.... if you don't mind 2nd hand it's well worth it!

I've found this thread really reassuring. When DC2 is born, there'll be 22 months between my babies and DS won't quite be 2. Suppose I haven't had time for the panic to set in yet about having 2 under 2, but there's some good advice on here. I too planned to use our current pushchair and put DC2 in a sling but I might consider a double buggy too. Will also research buggy boards!

Good thread. I'm watching for more tips too as DD is due when DS is 21months this summer. I planned to use a sling for DD and pushchair for DS, then use a buggy board in time. Only trouble is I can suffer when bad backs so I may have to start thinking of a double buggy.

This is no help to you but I had a friend who had twins and when they were 10 months old she had another set of twins. Her family were in Canada and she was in the UK. Her husband was away (British Army) for 6 months when the younger twins were 5 weeks old. She was very slim and fit looking Smile congratulations too btw.

No advice but mine will be 25 months apart, I was hoping for a larger gap so I'm slightly freaking out.

I am 4 months into a 21 month gap and it's fine, although both are pretty easy and the toddler is super independent. There are the odd moments of pure horror though where I'm on my own and need to get two overtired children down for a nap at the same time!

I have a double buggy and really need it as we live in town and walk everywhere. I guess it depends on your kids and lifestyle though - maybe wait until the baby is due before deciding. My baby will only stay in the sling if sleepy - it's not a mode of transportation! The sling is really invaluable though - I stick the baby in there at dinner time for a nap so I can cook for and feed the toddler.

For me zero to one was infinitely harder than 2 under 2. But that may be because with PFB I tried to do everything by the book whereas now I am wiser!
