Obstetric appointment

Hi wondering if anybody can help.
I've had a letter today in the post for an obstetric appointment and I have no idea why.
I have an underactive Thyroid. My levels were ok but at 11 weeks they shot
Up to TSH 9! Anyway since then I have upped medication.
My doctor assured me this is very unlikely to cause issues.
Is this why I have a obstetric appointment? The letter says nothing! Just when to go! Not how long I'll be there what will happen whilst I'm there. Is there something wrong and they aren't telling me? I'll be 14 weeks when I have the appointment. Will they scan me? My 12
Week scan they said everything was fine and didn't mention any additional appointments with obstetric?? Help I'm so scared! Xxxxx

I suspect this is indeed to ensure your thyroid medication is well managed. Your medication requirements will continue to be increased and specialist input now will allow you and your GP to stay ahead of that rather than playing catchup again. (and, it's not something midwives will be knowledgeable about at all) Depending on your background there are one or two other things they probably want to ensure aren't missed, but I doubt there are any other major concerns. Just about helping you stay in optimal health.

Best wishes.

I think I'm panicking because I never had any of this with my daughter when I was pregnant. It was all very easy and a complication free pregnancy. Will they scan me for this appointment?

I think it's unlikely they'll scan you again.

12 week scan was purely that, a scan, they won't have had blood work or the relevant dr to talk about thyroid stuff.

It's better that they see you and monitor than problems develop further on
