Do I tell my Hubby I'm Preggo

Hi All,

So I found out yesterday that we're expecting which is great news - we started trying at Christmas so I'm over the moon!

Problem: my hubby is away on an oil boat in the middle of the sea with virtually no connectivity... FOR A MONTH! We're only half way through and I don't know whether to tell him on the crackly phone or to wait until he walks in the door....

I joked with him before he went that's i wouldn't tell him if I found out whilst he was away... mostly because I want to share the moment with him rather than it be an isolated thing for both of us... I didn't think I'd ACTUALLY be in this situation though!

So here I am - do I tell him or do I wait 2 weeks and tell him when he gets back (I'm just 5 weeks now).... thanks all!

I think I'd try to keep it to myself for a fortnight.

I'd probably last less than 14 minutes 😂

💐 Congratulations!!

I would wait, it will be lovely to see his face & reaction, and it's not that long to wait really - you can't tell anyone else before him though!

Off to the GP on Tuesday! Grin

I'd have to tell if it was me! Congratulations!

Congratulations!!

No don't tell him. When he comes home leave little hints around the house and wait for him to catch on! Spend the next few weeks planning it ready for his return. Be something lovely to look back on, rather than a crackly phone call where you can't see his face Smile

I'd tell if it were me, as I knew my DH would want to know as soon as possible. I did the test at 3pm, did a million other tests then told him to leave work early Smile

I'd tell him by phone. You know he'll cry, don't you? Grin

I'd probably wait. 40 weeks is a verrry long time. It's quite nice having a secret for a bit.

I was in a similar situation last month, as I found out I was pregnant whisky DH was away (he's in the army). He was back in 2 weeks but i didn't wait and told him over the phone - REALLY wished I'd waited so I could have seen his face! But it just came out as I was so excited. I'd wait if I were you - so special to tell him in person Grin congratulations!

Id wait. Telling my DH face to face and seeing his reaction is a memory I will always treasure

DP says he'd much rather know in person so wait 2 weeks

What was his response when you joked about it prior to him leaving?

WhenI joked about it first time he was like "nooo you have to tell me" and then second time he was a bit more nonchalant about it... but we were only joking around...

I think I'm going to wait. My hope is that he doesn't think I'm trying to keep him out of it by just waiting a little bit. Just tried to book a Dr appointment and it is for the morning after he comes back so he won't miss anything much...

So... anyone got any ideas on how to tell him? He's always been the romantic and thoughtful one - I'm rubbish at this stuff!

You could go and buy some teeny tiny white baby booties and wrap them in a nice box. Give it to him as a welcome home present with no clues Star

My DH works away for over a month at a time. I asked him when we started trying whether he'd want me to tell him straight away or wait and tell him face to face and he said he'd want to know as soon as I did.

definitely wait, it would be amazing to surprise him and see his reaction!

i love the baby booties idea, or even pay for a private scan and give him it in a little congratulations card with the scan inside to open infront of you. like "oh this came in the post" Grin

I'll never forget the moment I told my partner. I wrote a Xmas card from me and the baby. He burst out crying and was grinning like a Cheshire Cat. It was so lovely to see his reaction, I would advise you to wait! Xx

Ooh I don't think a private scan is a good idea, my DH would have been pretty devastated if I'd been for a scan without him.

I couldn't even wait until hubby got home from work 3 hours later...

Ditto Spam. But the booties are a lovely idea - make a cheesy sign saying 'Welcome home, Daddy' or something and just have that ready when he gets in. I don't envy you, tho - you think the 2WW feels long but this will be something else! Eek, make SURE you tell us all how it goes when you DO spill. Squee

Haha! He always says when he goes away that he misses out on so much when he goes - he's missed weddings, funerals, birthdays and loads more so part of me is thinking that if I tell him he is going to feel like he is missing out on it... if I wait til he gets back then he is involved from the get go... I hope it doesn't backfire as it could go either way!!

I was surprised that I couldn't get a doc appointment for 2 weeks but I'm kinda glad that I don't have an appointment before he gets home as then he can come if he wants to... so - yeah - scan is probably a bad idea to be honest... but thanks... maybe we'll do it together when he gets back...

I got a little teeny sleepsuit with "I love my daddy" on the front of it today... it's so cute
