Help!!
I think I might be pregnant, I had the coil fitted a year and half ago, but I have all the symptoms of bein pregnant! This has never happened before so I'm a little confused and scared!
I have the dark rings around my areole, the sore/tender breasts, my moods are all over the place, I'm feeling sick and I have a constant headache!
I had unprotected sex 3 weeks ago, please someone tell me if this can actually happen!? I'm really freaking out here!

They can fail but it is incredibly rare. Have you checked the threads are still there? Sometimes the coil can slip out unnoticed, goodness knows how but the doc that fitted mine told me they can.

Maybe do a pregnancy test to put your mind at rest. If it is positive you nee to see a doctor straight away as there's a chance of it being ectopic.

Yes. I did. I had continued having periods (lighter than my 'normal' ones thanks to the coil) which is how i knew when said lighter period didn't start one month. Did a test. Was positive. Saw my doctor the same day she did a test, was then referred to my hospital gynae unit where a consultant with a hoarde of students removed said coil whilst monitoring their actions via ultrasound. My resulting DD turns 5 this year. Smile

Could be you are panicking and imagining the worst because you had unprotected sex and your brain is doing the rest. Brains are weird (and dickish!) like that.

tbh being pregnant hadn't even crossed my mind at all until Sunday night, my sister asked what was wrong and why I'm so tired when I'm sleeping from 10-7:30 every night.... I feel like I did when I was pregnant with my daughter,
I didn't want another baby, my mindset was very much 1 and done! So it's not the kind of thing I dwell on or dream about lol x

Sorry jilted. Couldn't quite believe it myself at the time. I spent the next nine months in a sense of suspended disbelief, it had done its job for the previous year why it failed then is all hocus pocus to me. Thankfully when DD was born she became the light of our lives and while i thought we were done with babies i'm soooo glad my coil failed and gave me her. Hopefully the op will get the outcome she desires and as has already been said failures with coil still in are rare. Non of the docs i saw could quite believe it until they did (see it that is). I even had a couple of nurses poo poohing me at the hospital on the day itself.
