Can I ask you all about bleeding in early pregnancy?

What would you class as 'normal'?

I'm actually quite relaxed about it. I have a scan next Wednesday, so I'll know either way then. But my bleeding has been erm... weird.

I'm 6 weeks and have had three gushes of dark blood in the last week. Not a huge amount, but forceful if you get that I mean. Like bursts straight through my jeans. I've had watery pink-brown spotting in between bleeds. I'm not in pain though! I've got a cyst on my left ovary which I guess could be causing issues... but other than that I'm just a bit confused. All looked normal after my first bleed, so it doesn't appear at the moment to be a miscarriage.

Does this seem normal? It just feels like a lot of bleeding!

Personally I would get this checked out. I had bleeding at 7 weeks and rang my GP (at the stage where all I had was brown blood) and they booked me an appointment for a scan at my local EPU for first thing the next day. Now I'm 14 weeks and all fine and ticking along but my GP and EPU were both adamant that any bleeding should be reported in the first trimester. Better to play it safe I figure 😊

(Should add as well that I was quite relaxed throughout the whole thing too but still felt positive that they'd at least been able to confirm that all was ok. My midwife told me any bleeding in the first trimester (whilst possibly fine) is considered abnormal). Good luck xx

Sorry I should've been more clear! They're aware, had scans and bloods done and I appear normal Confused they're following it up next week with another scan,

I just want to know where the blood is coming from!

I bled from both my cervix (red) and a spot inside my uterus (brown and each time period would have been due) very close to where DD had implanted at various stages throughout first pregnancy. Otherwise very healthy, full term (and some!) pregnancy. But, like tot, had frequent early scans.

It's a worry but the scans were reassuring!

Oh bless, well if the professionals are aware of it and don't seem concerned then I'm sure all is good! Hope your scan on Wednesday helps to reassure you. I think bleeding in early pregnancy can be due to lots of different reasons so I adopted the ignorance is bliss approach with mine, turned out at my 12 week scan I have a bicornuate uterus which might explain my bleed. Hope you get an answer!

I recently had bright red bleeding (and it seemed like a lot) with no pain at about 6 weeks when I was in transit on a long haul flight. Lasted about 36 hours on and off and it was terrifying. I had a scan two days later when I got to my destination and saw a lovely little heartbeat and no source of bleeding. No idea what caused this but everything seems ok. Something similar happened to me during my first pregnancy at an early stage. Seems to be relatively common but very worrying at the time - but it does not always mean bad news.
