When did you get one? Why? Was it worth it? Im considering one at 9 or 10 weeks for peace of mind.

When I was pregnant with DS1 I had one. I was 8 weeks pregnant. I had no pregnancy symptoms and felt absolutely no different. It was 2 days before OH and I got married so we wanted to make sure all was well before announcing it at the wedding. It was about £80, but well worth it in my opinion.

I paid for a private scan at 10 weeks. Found out the heart had stopped 10 days earlier.

I still don't know if it was better to find out that way or not. I could prepare for what was to come and got a photo which I'm so grateful for but the actual scan was, for us, truly heartbreaking.

If I fall pregnant again, I'm not sure what I'd choose to do. Sorry to be glum, but always good to hear different experiences.

Whatever you decide I hope you have a very happy and healthy pregnancy Smile

Thank you, and Nova I'm sorry to hear that. 😟

I had scans at 4 & 5 weeks as I had pain but they couldn't see anything "unusual" so I got sent on my way. I'd quite like another scan soonish as the pain is back in really intense spells so I want to know what's going on without pestering the early pregnancy unit again. (I felt stupid last time)

I had an early scan at 7 weeks, everything was fine. The day before my 12 week scan I miscarried. I think in hindsight I would have preferred not to have seen the heart beat at 7 weeks, but it's a personal choice.

I've had early scans in all of my pregnancies. Two gave me bad news, one showed me a tiny blob with a flickering hb that became my dd.

I'm currently ten weeks and have had two at my EPU so far (they saw me as my last mmc was only at Christmas), and have a private one booked for next week (only a week before my dating scan, but we are staying with relatives at Easter and I won't be able to conceal it so want to be sure things are still ok before we tell them).

I suppose, that's a long winded way of saying that, yes, they can be reassuring, but the reassurance for me is pretty fleeting and my anxiety ramps up again before the next one. That may well be I've had previous mmc and I am also 43, so higher risk.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

I had a reassurance scan at 9 weeks as I'd had a miscarriage just before that pregnancy and really needed to know if this one was ok. For me, it was money well spent.

Thanks, I'm still really torn as to what to do. It's very frustrating these first weeks.

I didn't have a early scan, but I had an early gender scan and that was fantastic!
For a peace of mind, go for the early scan to relax yourself, because the more relaxed and happy you are about the pregnancy, the more positive you become about it!

I'm 13 weeks. I've had five scans. I still don't believe it's real and can't bring myself to tell anyone until I've had another scan in case it dies and i am exposed as a fraud.

After £15k on ivf and a previous miscarriage a few hundred quid seems a drop in the ocean.

I realise I am totally mad in the head and do not recommend this route at all 😖

I'm wonder if to just make do with my Doppler from as early as possible then get a extra scan between the 12 & 20?

We had a scan at 7+4 as I was convinced that there was nothing in there and I couldn't bear the thought of getting to 12 weeks to find out.

Turns out I was wrong but I'm glad we did it as it was wonderful to see her heartbeat and her little, blob self.

Had it at a private clinic in London. It was around £90 from memory.

I had private scan at 7.5 weeks because i didn't believe it was true, or would last. We had been TCC on a serious level for 6 years, thats not counting the un prevented years with Hubby.

I was thinking that IF i did miss carry then i would have a little picture of my miracle .....

Id defo have one

I've had two in this pregnancy, one at 6+4 (epu) and one at 8+1 (private).
It was great to see the progress but I can't say it's made me worry any less as I'm still terrified of every twinge and pain.
I will get another in a few week's which will no doubt keep me happy for a few days until the fear comes back again.

I had one at what worked out at 5 weeks due to bleeding (not loads) and one 10 days later which showed fetal heartbeat. Im 22 weeks now and had 6 so far (most recent being yesterday as i think i have a stomach bug) :) made me worry less and keep me in positive mindset

I've booked a private scan at 8+2, partly because I have a family spa day at 10 weeks and want to know it's all ok before I tell people, and partly as twins run in my family and I really want to know if there's 1 baby or 2 before I start buying bits.
There's a nearby babyshow when I'm 12 weeks and I want to go and know.
