Pregnancy

I was told there would be glowing

I'm 22+6 today. The sickness has stopped, the tiredness hasn't but I was assured by those in the know around me that there would be glowing in the second trimester. The only glowing is the sweats and the skin on my back, chest and neck is dreadful. I am covered in big lumpy spots. Where is my glow?! Where is my radiant pregnancy?!

I was told there would be glowing

It's a lie to ensure the continuance of the human race.

Most people feel better in second trimester than in first and third, but I don't know anybody who had that glow.

Don't worry, for about twenty minutes at the end of April, you'll glow.
Never experienced it in either of my pregnancies though, I felt like a sack of spuds the whole way through

Ha ha what did they tell you about breastfeeding? 😂 you haven't got to the big mythbusting yet...

You were lied to, sorry

It's all lies.
I felt like a whale the whole way through, there was definitely no glowing

I feel your disappointment! I'm 23 wks and still suffering with morning sickness and tiredness! Everyone I know who has been pregnant keeps telling me my tiredness is only going yo get worse as I enter the 3rd trimester! Feels so unfair when my two pregnant colleagues are glowing and I'm dragging myself around! So I feel you xx

Yes, its all crap a myth.

Don't worry, insommnia, restless legs, indigestion, baby sitting on nerve in bottom which made me limp are just around the corner.

All you need now is a heatwave in summer and you'll be sorted Wink

I was sick as a dog all the way through my pregnancy with DD. My hair was limp and greasy. I had horrendously painful acne. I was knackered all the time - definitely zero glowage Sad
With DS, I didn't exactly get a "glow", but my sickness went away, my hair was shiny and my skin looked better than it ever had.aybe the old wives tale about how girls steal their mother's beauty has some substance to it after all!

Grin I am so looking forward to that 20 mins in April. I will be out meeting and greeting my public and receiving accolades about my radiant beauty. So that'll be nice. I'd hoped to have the skin of a teenager. Just not an acne riddled one.

Right, time to haul my butt off the sofa and do some cleaning instead of watching endless repeats of Tipping Point.

I didn't glow either, had a permanently grey complexion with my first! Second pregnancy wasn't much better.

16+3 and I'm waiting for it too, had terrible sickness and sleep what's that, I have forgotten what it's like to feel normal! I was hoping it's round the corner so let me know when it arrives!

Don't give up hope! From about 30+ weeks I have received comments saying I look "healthy" and "well" but nothing before then.

At about 20 weeks the sickness ended and the spd started. No glowing inbetween here!

Nope, no glowing with either of mine. See also: breastfeeding helps you lose weight and the right attitude will get you through labour.

Report
motherinferior · 29/03/2017 14:13

Oh and: it's only a day and the moment your baby is in your arms you'll forget all about the labour.

Not a glow in sight for me. Just permanent exhaustion, loss of vision through migraines and serious, SERIOUS, heartburn. I remember picking up my first bottle gallon drum of Gaviscon on prescription from the doc and thinking 'That's silly of them, to make it in such big bottles'.
laughs bitterly

Ha ha ha.

Oh yes to 'Breastfeeding helps you lose weight'!!! That's a gem, that is!!

DD fed every 1 1/2 hrs. FOR 1 1/2 hours at a time!! I was a milking machine! A lot all of the time was sat on my huge bum watching tv or reading and eating! I put on 2 stone BFing!!

GlassHearts where did you get that picture of me Angry

It's true that exclusive breastfeeding can burn up to 500 calories in a day. It's just that there's significantly more calories in a pack of double chocolate digestives, which, as everyone knows, are essential bf fuel

I've exclusively breastfed two babies. With one I stayed the size of a campervan for about a year. With the other I shrank. I am very pro-breastfeeding but the weight thing is a con.

Yeah there was no glowing here. Not even a little bit through the atrocious acne.

I also put on a good 2 stone breastfeeding Blush

The only glow ive had is that red face when pushing out that constipated poo....that struggle is real.

Report

Yep, they lied! 33 weeks here, I glowed for about 10 mins at 20 something weeks after the sickness stopped before the constant heartburn started Hmm

I want to know where all these women that enjoyed pregnancy so much are... still haven't met one.... how anyone considers doing this more than once is beyond me AND that's without me experiencing the labour part or breastfeeding Hmm
