Stopping vitamins

Hello!

Found out this week that I'm pregnant with my first child! Ahhhhh 😀 so excited!
So a month ago I started taking high strength vitamins due to having a short luteal phase. I'm taking b complex, b6 and vitamin c.
So I was wondering when I should stop taking these?
I'm also taking folic acid and vit d until 12 weeks.

Thank you x

Congratulations! Flowers

I found B6 hugely helpful to manage my mood throughout pregnancy, but you do want to be careful that you're only taking the safe amount of all vitamins, as some can be unsafe to take more than the recommended amount during pregnancy.

In terms of supporting a normal pregnancy (ie no doctor-recommended extra supplements), a pregnancy multi-vitamin should cover it, including the folic acid and D - I took <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00SYWWCTS/?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">this and <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00GRVCHMA/?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">this.

Ah thank you so much!

Yeah that's what im worried about as they're really high doses...im on high dose vit d due to having a low level and also on high dose folic acid due to being type 1 diabetic so not able to take a multi vitamin. Just worried about the other high dose vitamins that I haven't been prescribed.

I think I'll get in touch with my diabetes team and see what they say as not seeing a midwife until around 9 weeks x

Vitamin D is fat soluble so definitely one to be careful about high doses.

High dose folic acid is prescribed in some pregnancies e.g. with a family history of spina bifida, but I would want a doctor to know the specific circumstances and confirm it's ok if I were you.

The vitamin d and folic acid are both prescribed medications for me so not worried about those ones as they've put me on them for pregnancy x

No one could advise you on here..you generally need to/should take pregnancy vitamins throughout pregnancy and beyond if preferred. But you should really speak to your GP in your case as you have other medical conditions, they may put you in touch with a midwife early so they can advise you if needed.
