Constant dull cramping uterus area

Im 4+5 and for the past week ive had on/off cramps. A scan at EPU showed a sac and my HCG is doing what it should but since yesterday the cramps have been constant and woke me from my sleep last night. Paracetamol has been my saviour but im not keen on just continually taking these. Ive also got the same low back ache i usually get on the 1st day of my period. Its exhausting to be in constant discomfort. Does anyone have experience of this or have any pain relief ideas? I keep getting reassured its all "normal" but if it continues ill not be able to sit in the office for 8 hours tomorrow, or get a decent sleep.

You might need a sick day, can you take one? Sit with your feet up? When were you last reassured it is normal?

Friday. Unfortunately due to a life long health issue I've used over my sick allowances, and work don't know I'm pregnant so wouldn't be understanding especially with a Monday sick day!

That's rough. I suppose you have to turn up and do your best. I have no medical knowledge to advise how best to manage, but a shed load of empathy. Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like a plan. It's a crap situation, when it's too early to tell anyone.

Yeah, gonna need to tell my work soon tho I guess as I've got early scans and appointments coming up

i know in many organisations pregnancy related sick leave is not counted in the standard sick leave and so doesn't have same implications. Might be worth getting hold of HR policy and looking into it as may well need to take some time off! Hope you feel better and scan is good news x

Just to say that I had this in all of my three pregnancies - constant 'period pain'. I was advised to take paracetamol but I didn't - it just became normal after a while.

Thanks Sarah. It's a lot better today but I'm now floored with cold. Just can't win lol. Xc

I have had constant lower abdomen cramps since when I was due on - over 9 weeks ago. I can't wait until Im through the first trimester. Due 28 October.

Bel it's comforting to know it's not just me... What a worry though, right? Did you get back pain?

A little bit - the back pain will come though!

OnNaturesCourse · 27/03/2017 13:59

I've got backache but I used to get that around my periods so perhaps it's just how my body is!
