Dummies by the score
I had twins so what I needed may be different to a single baby

Things I did differently the second time:

Wool sleeping bags instead of synthetic ones (less sweaty, the Disana ones are affordable)

Babygros with feet instead of outfits with socks

Incopads on the change table

No Moses basket, just cosleep from the start in the spare room (DH looks after DD1 if she needs something in the night)

Minimalist change bag, not a massive one

H&M nursing vests

Pampers baby dry sized up at night as soon as possible to avoid night changes

Enjoy everything more, they really are little for such a short time!

I'm 5 days in with no2. Things I'd forgotten - more muslins than you think necessary, cellular blankets, sleepsuits with integrated scratch mits (those newborn nails are sharp!)

Oh and anusol. I forgot the need for anusol.

Thanks ladies... It's all coming back to me...! I'm in a hot country but some of these I can substitute like getting muslin sleep sacks. And some great tips

I love the sight of newborn vests pinned out on the line in the sunshine :)

Since you can't actually see the stains anymore after they've been bleached by the sun, nobody would be wearing "shit stains".
So far, I've only binned one vest and that was because it was covered completely after a poo explosion. The baby was washable.

Never seen the need for a Moses basket. (Is that a British thing?)
I like our Sleepyhead and Next 2 Me cot.
Playmat and bouncy chair are good for just putting DS down for a few minutes.
Swivel base for the car seat is great. Much easier to put him in.
We're using an IKEA dining table (cheap one, had it for years) as a changing table. So much space.
Lots of muslins.
Sleeping bags are fab. There are 1tog ones for warmer weather.
Swimming nappies and wetsuit.

Didn't need:
Newborn sizes. DS was born at 8lb12oz and never wore any of the stuff, since it only goes up to 7lb or so.
He doesn't take dummies, so they were pointless.
Trousers and tops when they are little. They are just annoying and DS tends to live in sleepsuits. DH struggles to put anything else on him.
