Hello all. Probably being paranoid but the last few weeks (i am now 13+5) i have been drinking decaf coffee and caffeine free pepsi. I hate water and squash. I have also been drinking fruit juices though.

Now i have read decaf is bad???

If you stuck to everything that is bad for you you would be living off of celery, please try not to worry as long as you aren't living off of rubbish you and baby will be fine, I have never drunk alcohol in a pregnancy and I don't smoke normally but I've had things that are probably on the "bad" list, things in moderation are fine

Why is it bad?

Never heard decaf is bad for you. Where did you hear it? I assume too much of any one thing is not great for you, so unless you are literally drinking bucket loads a day then I really wouldn't worry at all.

Decaf is not bad in pregnancy
My midwife said I can drink as much decaf tea or coffee as I like

I dont drink a lot of it but whenever i have tea, i have decaf. I wouldnt drink the caffeine free pepsi mind, i did and my consultant said the sweeteners in caffeine free are actually worse for you and baby then the caffeine, when i googled it it appears to be true. As long as you dont drink more than the recommended amount of caffeine, it will be fine. I hate drinking caffeinated things but have one glass of coke once in a blue mood and im 34 weeks now. They say not to eat runny eggs or mayo but i've been doing that since 8 weeks. Chocolate also has caffeine in but i dont think any sane pregnant woman would give up chocolate haha x

Shop bought mayo is fine as it's pasteurised. The sweetener story sounds like scaremongering

Never heard that! Decaf lavazza is alright, I swapped for that. Although I did still occasionally have real coffee.

My midwife told me I was better to drink proper coffee because decaf is so full of chemicals. I ignored her as actually quite like decaf!

Runny eggs are fine so long as the eggs are lion stamped.

Decaf is fine. The Internet is full of food-related scaremongering and conspiracy.
