I'm having a little look at some online shops, Buying the smaller toiletries I will need for myself during labour and the baby after he is born. I've come across toothpaste for the baby.. from birth. Is this a normal thing?? Maybe its just me, But I'm a little confused as to why a newborn will need toothpaste. I thought he wouldn't need anything like this until he was at least teething, If they do, please someone tell me as I want to have everything I will need!!

Sorry if this seems stupid, but just wondering. Thanks :D

I guess it's just a catch all age banding, as babies all teeth at different times. DD2 got her first tooth at 7 months, DD2 at 3.5 months. So it will just mean that you can use it from when they get their first tooth.

Well some babies are born with teeth! Basically they are saying you can use it from whenever your child gets their first tooth whether that's 2, 6 or 12 months.

Toothpaste isn't needed until a tooth has come through so highly unlikely you will need it straight away, teeth can come through that early but it's rare.

You don't need it.
It's easier to fit 'From birth' on the packaging than 'From the first tooth' and if they put 'From 4 months' people with earlier teethers would be confused.

I think that just means it's safe to use as soon as teeth appear, whatever age that may be. You're supposed to start brushing as soon as the first tooth cuts, which can be earlier than you'd imagine (and, rarely, babies can even be born with teeth). No need to have toothpaste on hand in advance, though.

Good luck! Exciting times ahead!
