CB digital dates wrong? Worried.

I have a long history of fertility problems and mc, I have recently found out I am pregnant again. Last mc was exactly 2 years ago.
CB is showing 2-3 weeks and has been for 6 days now. However from lmp I am 5+5 which should show as 3+ on the test.
Has anyone else had experience of the number's reading low but continued on to have a successful pregnancy? Or otherwise as I'd like to hear honest opinions. Thanks.

I've heard the dating part isn't that accurate but the yes/no pregnancy part is very much so. HCG which causes a positive test and gives the date can vary from woman to woman. My scan dates put me ahead of when I know we conceived (DTD once!) So I'd consider dating early pregnancy an art not a science. Congratulations!

Honest opinion....please stop testing, you will make yourself go insane and stress yourself unnecessarily. The CB tests with the number of weeks are just indicators. Please relax.

I've heard they can be inaccurate and that just a 'line' poas is much better.

Hello! Mine also says 2-3 weeks and I know I'm 6 * weeks. I think they are wrong.
I've stopped testing.
You could pay for a private scan of you can't wait til 12 weeks

For the dating part. The pregnant/ not pregnant works fine.

I was in hospital recently and there was a nurse in despair over this because she said CB was confusing people, especially those who had previous mcs and reported loss of symptoms in early pregnancy going off of CB dates. It is to do with hormones and yours can be higher or lower than someone else's. Go by LMP for now and dating scan later. Stay positive!

Yeah, just as others have said I've heard midwives really don't like the digital "weeks" tests for this exact reason, they're notoriously inaccurate! You've got a BFP (congratulations!) 😊 and I'd honestly spare yourself the anxiety of retesting! X

Thank you for the replies.
I have a scan booked for the 30th March if I make it that far, not made it to 6 weeks in prev mc.
I just can't relax at all.

Hi, not to worry you but as balance I had this my last pregnancy which ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. I did eventually get to 3+ but I was aware it seemed to take too long. Hopefully this won't be you but for me it did indicate something wasn't quite right.

Salmon I really don't think that's helpful when op is obviously already anxious.

Op, I had a mc last summer and am sorry for your losses and long journey. I know what a crappy anxious time this pregnancy will be after mc, I'm now 29 weeks and still can't relax. I did a cb digi this bfp which said 2-3 weeks and ended up going for a scan the next day due to intense one sided pain so suspected ectopic. There was already a perfectly healthy baby with a heartbeat when they scanned me and dated me about 6 weeks (can't remember exactly now) but it goes to show the digis can definately be wrong and no indicator of how the pregnancy is progressing. Thr pain was a cyst on my ovary. Good luck and congratulations x

raindrops I'm trying to offer some balance - lots of posters told me it was going to be ok and not to trust the dates etc etc and it gave me a hope I'd have better not to have tbh.
OP said she wanted honest opinions which I have done .
I have had 4 miscarriages and won't wish upset or distress on anyone

My lmp was 6 weeks when I did my test. Results similarly showed 2-3 weeks. However I was actually nearly 12 weeks according to first (early) scan. Don't rely on the dating.

I agree with salmon

The OP asked for experiences, not just good ones and I've had two miscarriages and would also rather have had balanced views rather than everyone saying it would all be ok!

Cb digital have always been very accurate for me personally but other people have found them not to be.

I didn't get 3+ until I was nearly 7 weeks. I'm 33 weeks now. With my pregnancies that I lost I never got over 1-2 weeks on a digital. I have naturally low hcg levels and they take a long time to rise. Good luck I hope it works out for you.

I haven't used the clear blue cos I know I'd go crazy, but I had my hcg tested every 48 hours in week 4 with this current pregnancy due to a previous ectopic. It was extremely low (although it did double). As in the average for 4 + 0 weeks is 5-500 and mine was around 20, which doesn't even register on some tests. The range for hcg is very wide and those tests are just an average. I wouldn't get too over invested in the tests and would focus on the fact you've had no bleeding. It's a horrible stressful time and I know just how you feel!

I didn't get 3+ on the clear blue test until I was well over 6 weeks.. and that was with twins!
Midwives hate them as they cause a lot of unnecessary worry.
Keeping everything x it all works ouworks for yoy

Try not to worry.
I was 'stuck' on 2-3 reading for 9 days.
Worried sick that it wasn't rising/hcg doubling. I did get an early '2-3' reading but this didn't ease the worry. Can't help you on comparable dates as I'm an ivf pregnancy.
All turned out good so far as I'm
nearly 17 weeks 😊
If you are really worried go to your gp and ask for 2 hcg blood tests 48 hours apart. Your numbers should be doubling in early pregnancy.

I obsessively took about 20 of these tests and only got 3+ when I was around 7 weeks, even then some days it would be 2-3. All was fine Smilehope everything goes well for you and try to stop worrying, the tests aren't completely accurate!

Report

These tests can drive you potty and definitely aren't completely accurate, HCG in urine can vary so much from women to women. However, having experienced both sides of this, in 2015 I was pregnant and the CB digi turned from 1-2 to 2-3 quickly but I never got a 3+ and spent a fortune trying, eventually at 8 weeks it went back down to 1-2 and I knew something was wrong, ended up miscarrying at 9+4. Because of that experience, this time around I was so desperate to see that 3+ and eventually I did but it took until 6+4 so later than it's supposed to be and I'm now 21+4 so don't panic yet 😊

Report
wantingabud · 20/03/2017 15:26

I was going to ask the same thing as I am 5 +3 today which I thought would make the CB digi 3+ weeks as more than 3 weeks from conception....keep us posted and let's hope it's just a bit inaccurate - taking comfort from others saying theirs said that and have a happy healthy baby now. FX for us :)

Ptphonehome. Not sure if you still follow this thread but was curious to your outcome?

I'm sure if you read the instructions it says to add on two weeks? So if it says 2-3 you add on two, so you are actually 4-5 weeks pregnant which adds up with your thinking OP? X
